I saw a few different threads on recycled things on here. I'm a huge recycled art fan due to the fact that no one in my family has much money. What do you guys do for recycled decorations? I don't have a yard, but I figured I'd share this-I saw on another forum I'm on, making a yard ornament out of a bowling ball-you take the ball and glue those half marbles (? the things you put in flower vases) and put it on one of those cement stands-it looked awesome! Some people even used glass pieces. I can't wait to start new recycled things. Some people even sell them!
bottle trees look whimsical and are easy to make. just be sure to get lots of different colored bottles. the fun is in emptying them!
I met a woman who had a bottle tree with one of those fake christmas tree skeletons. It was awesome! She also had one that had a bunch of bead strands hanging off of it.
yeah...you don't see many of them here today, but i'm told that the bottle tree is an old southern Black creation, made out to ward off evil spirits. that may be bullshit or it may actually be an old superstition. also, one thing we have in our yard is a log set on two big stones. it fell in our woods a few years ago so we pulled it out and its made a lovely place to sit...very comfortable and attractive since it looks so rustic
you can use the frame of an artificial christmas tree like malia said or you can get creative- make something or use a real tree. anything that you can slip into the mouth of a bottle that will hold its weight. its as simple as that. you just need plenty of appendages and you slip the bottles on said appendages. very simple and very pretty when you use different colored bottles
Thanks! That's one of the first pics I have with my fiance. I'm actually thinking of getting it blown up and using the lid of an old suitcase to make a neat frame for it-speaking of recycled decorations-HAHA!
