What is absolutely a good thing to do in the above situations is to run for your life while screaming for help. Using violence is for when you find yourself in those situations and you have nowhere to run; and even then, there is no 100% guarantee you will survive. Fight if you must. Kick the groin if you have to. But if you have a chance at getting away then run.

 

self defense is the only time a girl should ever have the right to hit a man. The same should go for a man to hit a woman but it seems like a double standard here.

 

I think if a woman hits a man and in defense a man hits her back the man would be the one suffering jail time.

 

I see your point and I understand why you assume that. However, it depends on how much damage a fighter can inflict. Assuming that their fighting abilities are equal, a 200-pound man's punch can still inflict more damage than a 90-pound woman. Ok, I know, not all men weigh as much and not all women are that small. That's not the point. The point is excessive force, even when used in defense, can land you in jail. If she hits you and bruises your face, you have every right to defend yourself by putting your hands up, blocking, weaving, parrying, and hitting back when necessary. But if you hit her and knock her down, and she happens to unfortunately bang her head on the ground causing a severe concussion, then you're going to jail.

Which is why the best defense in an attack is to put a lot of distance between you and your attacker - in other words, run. Because if you allow yourself to be trapped in a situation where you will have to fight, and you win but you kill (or at least seriously injure) the other person in the process, then you better get a good lawyer and pray that your self-defense claim doesn't get shot down by the prosecution.

 

Since we're talking about self-defense, there are restraining techniques you can use on a person. And let's get real: most women will not resort to physical violence; and among those that will, not all of them will have proper training in martial arts/CQC/self-defense. A skilled female fighter may be difficult to restrain depending on your own fighting skill level, but an unskilled one who weighs at least fifty pounds less and stands half a foot shorter than you should not be too difficult to take down and pin safely. (Again, this will of course depend on your skill level).

 

I agree. Women shouldn't act like they have a free hitting pass because you can't hit back. Women are just as capable of abuse as men. It's a double standard.
