I've always experimented with myself and tried hard to find out WHO I AM as a person and I've come to the conclusion like a lot of you have that I'm just a little different from most people. Things that make others content and satisfied do nothing for me. (Money, Gifts, Settling Down, Nice Neighborhood, Cars, Pretty Home, Religion)
It doesn't do it for me. It just fucking doesn't, and I dont think it ever will.

I want a FUCKING IN-BETWEEN. I made great grades the last couple years owned the SAT, got into colleges and think I want to Major in Social Work, but Theres Fucking a Whole World out there and it's so beautiful and mysterious and I want to explore and I want to backpack and I Want to meet all the crazy hipsters of the planet and play songs and sleep under the stars and make love in the moonlight and live a life of adventure and spontaneity.

But I also want to make a difference in the world and help out others so I can feel like I have purpose in Life. Since I was 13 I've been giving every single month to an African family to educate their child Blessing, Worked on Ralph Nader's Campaign when I was 14. This Christmas I got a Goat and a Chicken for a family in Haiti, because thats all I asked for and all I received. And that means more to me than any XBOX or whatever the fuck the gaming thing is now.

I WANT AN IN-BETWEEN I want to help others and yet still live a life where I get to Fucking Live on the Fly and experience Life outside the box and before the perfume!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I Don't think I made any sense. I'm sorry It's just been eating me up lately. Any replies from anyone or... Shit... Thank You.

Man that sounds exactly like me lol :p And u can help people and live a totally weird and travelly life. Like saving up money and volunteering in 3rd world countries, and just being a helpful and wonderful person.

Hah, who knows we might even bump into each other while we're both backpacking one day :p That would be pretty funky :D

you are not weird....you have a vision for yourself, and as long as you follow your heart and gut, I think you will find that which you seek

Everyone has a dream, be it a certain career, a family, having 7 cats names after the seven dwarves (ok the last might just be me!) but everyone is different! Do what you want, it's your life and you will do so much better at something that you actually love and have chosen to do.

I hate being in one place, I love travelling and meeting new people, the idea of a career where I have to stay put and have to live and work within a set of rules scares me. I say do what you want, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone!

For the original poster or anyone who needs to hear this:

You need to know that you can have it all!

I run my business and travel all over the world.

I volunteer and teach English in Central and South America. I live outside the USA more than I live in it each year. I have many upcoming projects from helping turtle organizations to working at wildlife sanctuaries.

The business gives me the resources I need to do what I feel I am called to do. It allows me to travel where and when I want.

My point is you can do it. Don't let anyone tell you you can't. It is all up to you!

BTW: I would have never considered this a hippie topic but what do I know?

my friends and I were in the same boat as you. We are all in college majoring in something we love and somethings just to get us by with and pay the bills with. We are all artist and writers and dreamers. We were tired of the same of thing and being trapped so we took a summer and just went cross country. We left with maybe about $500 each to just head out for the 3 months of the summer. We brought our artwork, our intruments, and our poetry, and I brought some clothes and jewlrey I've made and we just headed west and sold stuff along the way to make money. We slept in the car, camped out, and once a week or so treated ourselves to a motel if we felt the need.

it was amazing. life changing. and very helpful in self discovery.

youll definalty do what you wat in life just plan it out and find different ways of getting there if something fails. your a good kid i can tell by reading that, so others will see that. you and i are still young. i say cuz you got the grades finsih school then get your degree. then travel to other country and work there. then youll be ablem to travel around a place your unfamiliar with and meet new people.

you kinda have the same dream as i do bro. let me share my future plans, hope it will not be useless.

i'm studying anthropology and sociology at the moment, but at first i wanted to do a year of travelling right after high school. unfortunately i was so stupid do too little preparation, so now i'm in college. i'm planning on doing some of my travellings during the summer break (three months off) and in the year after I've graduated. with my career planning i got as far as this: when i'm tired of travelling i want to set up a fair tradecompany or something like that.
i think you gotta keep in mind you can't everything at the same time and to reach your dreams you gotta get creative and hold on to them. and if things don't work out the way you wished to, don't panic but make new plans.

BTW i think you're charity work is awesome! it shows that you're dedicated to your dreams

You want your cake and you want to eat it too... dumb saying because it doesn't make the least bit of sense... and that applies here. You see the cake, now just eat it! :)

I only ask that you don't forget about your neighbors in this warlord of a country... if we can fix this imperialistic nation we can hault many of the world's problems.
