Even in seniority, Through every year nothing changes. You are born. The earth revolves. You are not reborn. Nothing changes, Except a number to identify yourself. They ask if you feel any older, But in a day by day process it is impossible to tell. Daftly, Surely, replying, "Not really." Oh, you know you are older than the last time sweet mother Gaia sat in the same position as many years ago. A day you left safety to enter our domain, Her kingdom. Your skin expands, bones whittle, You lay in bed late at night wishing you weren't awake, And only seconds from awaking. Time is just a continuum of nothing. Planets, stars, life is reborn, And even if none are, Time will never cease continuing onward. You realize now. Your day by day memory loosens, And suddenly you are 65. The same person you have always been. Mind young, feeling, tasting, Holding onto the same beliefs and the same fears, The same hopes of anything but saying something unorthodox, Something no one will reply to. The same age of self-realization you have always been. So burn the calendars. Unplug the clocks. Smash the watches. Tonight I will sleep. Tomorrow I will still know.
i enjoyed it aswell. From my perspective it was very easy to see where you were coming from. Age being just a number, and days meaning nothing but the sun being on our side of the earth once again in the same pattern that has been going on since the beginning of... "time".
