This is my cat Captain Dandelion, and my 2 ratties Rocket and Bodhi are in my sig picture. As long as you are ready to properly take care of them I think animals are the most wonderful companions in the world.
I have a kitty that I am going to get a dog soon. Cats are nice in that I can leave my kitty home for a few days by herself and not have to worry. I have an automatic feeder and leave her lots of water and she is good to go.
i don't believe in the enslaving of ANY life form. nor the euthanizing of any that are not, unless the're REALLY a threat to public safety and there isn't anything else that can be done for or with them. i think it's cool to feed them and let them come and go. i think laws against doing so that way are completely backward headed. i agree its a good idea to give animals that are going to be arround humans a lot health checkups and rabies shots and all that, but just all creatures wandering arround where people are, catch, do this, and release. but anyway i don't mean that against anyone keeping creatures in their houses the way laws require us to if we're going to either. though i've just almost never lived any place where i was really allowed to do that either. i love all creatures, or at least, by that i mean i'm not prejudiced against any species as a species. every individual of every kind doesn't fall instantly in love with me, any more then i could expect humans to. but many do seem to find my company attractive to them for whatever their own reasons for this might be. i accept them as they accept me, including accepting that not all them will, and that many will do so only slowly over a very long time. well i don't live in a place now where i can, so i don't. oh i could probably have a little rat in a cage or something, but i prefer creatures who mostly take care of themselves but otherwise of their own volition choose to befriend me. =^^= .../\...
This is true... Sometimes, I'm thinking about the small 'pool' my turtles have to live in and how free and happy they'd be in their Florida, in plenty of water...
