it does all of those points for me aswell

but there is also another thing that weed does for me and that is that it keeps me alive i have a couple of occasions were i would have died if i did not decide to smoke weed instead or because i was high i couldnt go some were in a way i hate it because i know that i should have been the one getting hurt and not the other person but i know that would make them angry so i am happy to be alive.
i also have chronic depression and anger manigment so it also keeps those to a minimum which is a huge deal

so all in all if it wasnt for weed i would be either dead or a spyco
    i fucken love weed :)

Weed does alot for me and my life. One of the main things, is that it's really helped me have a much better prespective on life. It's helped me become a much happier person. Another reason is that it gives me something to look forward to, and something to be happy about. I also just like getting high, it just makes my day, and makes me a happier and less violent person.

when I get high.. All I think about is life... or like how other people said thinking about the past... past memories etc.. but mostly life and how life might have been back in the 1400's lol
It also help me concentrate more when I'm playing video games or doing home work

I like to play guitar high or any instrument. Writing music is also fun but it usually isn't so good the next morning! :p

most here, i would assume, are familiar with the apparent and more superficial effects of cannabis - you get high.

theres more to it for me, though.

promise not to laugh? it helps with my...ahem....joint pain. all terrible puns aside, i strongly believe i suffer from a very early onset of arthritis, though such has not been officially diagnosed by a doctor. i dont know how responsible heredity is for arthritis, but it is common on both sides of my family, and the symptoms i describe have been confirmed by afflicted relatives as being similar to those of their arthritis. i can go anywhere from days to weeks to months without pain, but all of a sudden, completely out of the blue, i suffer from moderate to high levels of pain in my knees, hips, elbows, fingers, and the lower portion of my spine. it is most common and debilitating when it strikes my knees, and my hips are the second worst. the left side is more affected than the right, and the pain ranges in duration from half an hour to two or three days straight.

sure, over the counter remedies don't hurt, and can help a little bit when the pain isnt too bad, but it really doesnt cut it when i'm limping a bit for a day or two because my left knee just kills me. i never understood the claims of medical marijuana users that cannabis helps them to manage pain until i started suffering from these pains, somewhere around 18 or 19 years old (several years after i began smoking.) i still dont have any experience with cannabis helping with nausea or any other manner of GI disturbance, but i believe that the claims others make must be legitimate as they are so widespread and heartfelt. in my experience it makes my stomach, if anything, worse. but the joint pain...it certainly helps as much or more than anything legal i've tried.

it helps a good deal with my insomnia, too. i find it terribly difficult to go to sleep - when i want to sleep and should sleep, my mind seems to work double time and just race along. the thoughts are clear as day and a mile a minute, and regardless of what time it is when i lay down in bed (8o'clock to 3 in the morning) it will take at very LEAST an hour or two to get to sleep when i am stone cold sober and free of all and any drugs. naturally i cannot sleep before midnight at very earliest, unless i have been previously deprived of sleep for a night or two. back in highschool i once went about 7 days with a rough sum of 16 hours of sleep.

furthermore it assists in just letting go and not worrying so much. ever since i was a toddler i have been rather....negative and blue. i worry too much, i overanalyze things, i stress out unnecessarily, and so on. marijuana does not erase problems, does not keep me from recognizing and admitting them, does not take them ENTIRELY off of my mind - but it usually helps in slowing me down, my thoughts dont race so much, i dont feel so down about the little, unimportant things. basically it allows me to unwind without the debilitatingly inebriating effects of alcohol.

there are a number of things, beyond just getting high and having fun, that cannabis does for me. i know there are things it does for other people that it doesnt do for me, and i know that the positive effects i experience don't apply to all other smokers, either.

but the simple fact remains that cannabis is a very useful, very versatile drug that can help many people in many ways. its abuse can lead to some very negative mental states and behavior patterns. but this is far less common, in my experience and my reading, than similarly negative mental states and destructive behavior patterns exhibited by heavy users of other drugs such as alcohol and other highly addictive and dangerous psychoactive drugs.

i definitely support complete and widespread legalization around the country and the world, but with a certain level of respect and caution. it can be as damaging as any other drug - in certain people. but in general its quite a bit more safe and sane to use marijuana than to use other common psychoactive substances like alcohol, nicotine, cocaine, or opiates, and for a very large number of users its side effects can in fact sometimes be the desired effects.

usually i smoke to get high. i love smoking pot, i love the act, i love being high. there are lots of tastes, lots of ways to ingest, lots of kinds of highs.....but often its more than that, and often its not the only reason, or even A reason, i or other people smoke pot.

and i have it easy. i just have persistant insomnia, needless worries, and occasionally mild to heavy joint pain. there are others who reap far better rewards for their cannabis use, meaning they are far more relieved of far more serious issues.

theres a lot more to pot than just laughing, getting red eyes and the munchies, and music sounding good and having fun. sure, getting high is great, and cannabis is probably my all-time favorite drug, surpassing nearly every recreational drug, medicinal drug, herbal remedy, and most spiritual sacraments.
