Groetjes from Maryland, Since this is an Amsterdam related site ,I thought someone might be familiar with Shoarma,Shawarma, etc. I visit the Nederlands quite often and I've noticed that many shoarma bars serve 3 sauces. One is a hot sauce(red in color), another is an oil based sauce with onions and something else(also red) And of course the white sauce which I don't care for. is anyone familiar with that? Does someone have a recipe for the red sauces? I'm extremely internet savvy and I can't find a trace of those recipes anywhere. Please help me, I need a shoarma fix. Tot Ziens!
I don't know the recipe, but one of it's called whiskey sauce in the netherlands. Maybe you can search on that name.
groetjes terug vanuit nat nederland tomato-onion sauce - 1 big onion - 4 tomato's or half a can of peeled tomato's - 4 tablespoons of olive-oil - 2 cloves garlic - 2 tablespoons chopped parsley - 4 chive leaves - half teaspoon salt or bouillionpowder - sambal (no idea what you call it but it's probably o.k to use a chili-pepper) cook chopped onion and crushed garlic in olive oil until translucent. Stir in chopped tomatoes and cook until juice thickens. Stir in the chopped parsley, chive and salt. let it cool down and add salt and sambal to your own liking the other red sauce could be a Shaslik sauce but i didn't find a recipe that i'd dare to translate :&
Hi Spiral sea Do you also have the recipe for Shoarma. What spices are in there If you know I would love to know that one. And the recipe for the garlic sauce. Right now my mom send me some shoarma mix packets over, and I mix mayo, parsley, garlic and a little bit of milk (to make it tinner) for the garlic sauce.
where are you from than? i did not expect that shoarma places would be a unique feauture to the dutch multi-cultural culture, since the netherlands don't know a big subgroup of egyptians (this is were shoarma comes from right?)
