Evolution

 

people DO seem to keep bragging about dumber and dumber things.

but i don't know if there's ever been a time when they didn't.

i kind of hope there might have been. and really seriously hope there will be.

but i can't really say as i know that, one way or the other.

Evolution is driven by competition. In the world today, who is chosen - the pretty face or the brilliant mind? Most are put off by a brilliant mind.. and most with an otherwise brilliant mind bottle it up into a series of purposefully stupid decisions to be normal.

When humanity as a whole realizes whats important in life, we may continue our otherwise incredible mental evolution as a whole.

That said, each of us has the ability to be smarter than our parents, to infinity... the pursuit of knowledge and understanding is an individual choice.

 

i've met any number or pretty faces with a brilliant mind behind the eyes. too many times have i seen people mistake beautiful for stupid.

Said which one is generally preferred... seeing a pretty face is easier than seeing a beautiful mind... many stop at the pretty face, regardless of the mind... and this is why many otherwise beautiful minds force themselves into the pretty face box and stunt their mental flower from flourishing.

Of course you can have both, particularly with beauty in the beholder

 

my little sister is stuck in that "dumb blonde" mode, it's INCREDIBLY annoying. my older brother was the same way. and since i'm not as pretty as either of them, suddenly i'm the smarter, nerdier one. either one of them have talents and brilliance i couldn't ever touch, but for some reason, since they were so pretty to look at, people put them in the "pretty little idiot" role. people suck.

 

I think there is a tendency to think people are getting dumber, just like there is a trend of believing everything about America is wrong etc.

I have a feeling if you went back into the past, you would be shocked by the amount of ignorance and small mindedness that you would encounter. I believe the capcity to learn is constant, but the enlightenment of the mind is more easily spread now with technology and communication

Why would anyone suck for viewing someone as they wish to be seen? Not everyone can know what you know... they know what they see, and they see what your siblings project.

 

No... people see what they want to see.... usually because people are too stupid to look deeper.

 

yup. and they feel superior in the only way they can. that sucks.

 

Intelligence is not a measure of knowledge... we may know more now, but we are constricted within the same set of norms and taboos.... set to deny the all important question of WHY.

More knowledgeable... most definitely... more intelligent... few make it their pursuit to be more intelligent.

But you are most definitely correct, the entire world now has the *capability* to see the biggest intellectual boom ever... everyone has the capability of recieving a degree worthy education by pokin around online... yet most don't take that route, where if such an incredible ability was given to those of the past (quit thinkin just european, there was a whole world goin on before euro's found that out), it would have been used more for knowledge rather than more for entertainment - thats my point.

 

Thank God that not everyone persues intellectual paths, gathering knowledge upon knowledge from all of the million sources we have in modern day...

To look "deeper" is to say everyone is inherantly good or bad, depending on your view... in that *you* are assigning what you wish to see in a person, you aren't seeing them for what they *are*. Everyone can change in any way at any time... such is free will... who they are right now is what matters, because that is who they choose to be.

people are deffinately not getting smarter as time progresses and quite possibly dumber. Look at history for example it just continues to repeat itself with war after war after war all attempting to create peace but has it happened yet?? the only thing that keeps changing are the weapons and methods used.
