I'm not sure why I do this. I ask myself this question every time I do. I have a problem with lying to those I love. I do not get enjoyment from this. I feel guilty every time I do it. I just lied to my boyfriend today... again. I didn't tell him I had plans to leave today. When he called me on it, I made up a lie telling him that it was spur of the moment. He called me on that too. But this has to be easily the twentieth time I went out and lied about it, lied about knowing or not knowing information, and lied about me lying. But I do absolutely nothing wrong when I'm out. Nothing he'd get mad at or nothing that would remotely ruin our relationship. Today I went to a church and practiced songs. Needless to say he's hurt by my lying, fed up with it, and I'm trying to change. I don't know why I lie. I get no excitement from it. I feel guilty when I do. I need any advice to know why I lie all the time when I don't have to. I need help with over coming this. I'm afraid my lies will break trust with him and other people. Anything is appreciated.
Hmm... I'm not sure how any of us can help you. I don't know why you lie. If you want to know why, perhaps you should consider getting professional help. If you want to know what to do, just stop lying.
I agree with Musikero. It's time to talk to a professional. There is something that makes you do this, and we can't really help you.
Just sounds like you are creating drama for no good reason to me. Just come clean and be honest, its not that difficult.
Your lies don't seem very important. At 16 a lot of girls lie about unimportant things. Do you lie to your parents, teachers, friends other than your boyfriend? Do you lie to impress people? To you lie to avoid criticism? If you lie for no important reason, sort of like cussing for no important reason, you certainly have a personality problem, but not a major one. See a priest or preacher or school councilor. May be you do need to see a shrink, but I don't think so. Do you have a college near you? Go see a clincial psychologist. They probably will talk to you and possibly won't want to charge you, and they may have useful advice. Of course, you may be having us on.
