ok so i was watching requiem for a dream, and that EST scene freaks me the fuck out, i know that my grandmother had to go through that for depression, and i really think we need to stop this practice (if, of course, its still performed) man it sure is fucked up.
yah but that whole movie in general shows really fucked up things, and to me that movie comes off as very exaggerated(not in how ect is portrayed, just in general). but ect was mainly 50's, 60's and early 70's thing and is now only used as a last resort (i think). i know very few, if any, patients still use it today. i think roky erickson was involuntarily given ect.
makesmomcry u have a sick sig man, i know i commented on it like 5times allready, but that chick is hawt in her own way
it was slowed way down for a while but "they" say now that for some people it is still the best option and is being more widely used in certain circumstances again http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/electroconvulsive-therapy/MH00022 Today, although electroconvulsive therapy isn't risk-free, it's a far cry from the old methods that helped give electroconvulsive therapy a bad reputation — a reputation that lingers on. Its use began in the early 1930s, when researchers injected chemicals in people with mental illnesses to induce seizures. The chemicals were soon replaced by electrical currents. The success of electroconvulsive therapy propelled it into widespread and sometimes indiscriminate use over the next few decades, before the advent in the 1950s of medications to treat depression. In those early years, electroconvulsive therapy could be painful and downright dangerous. It was administered with neither anesthetics nor muscle relaxants, and the electrical current was much higher. Powerful seizures racked the body with a force that could break bones. The images of doctors and nurses holding people down as they endured violent seizures were captured in books and films and have become nearly indelible. Electroconvulsive therapy is different today, although it still does pose a risk of side effects and complications, such as memory loss and confusion. Yet the procedure has become refined, with precisely calculated electrical currents administered in a controlled medical setting to achieve the most benefits with the fewest risks.
I also saw that movie recently, it helped gived me the motivation to stop doing all drugs but psychedelics and pot on the weekends and to drop all of my other mental addictions. The old lady really burned and image in my brain. All the shots of her diet pill experiences really remind of DXM, benadryl, and those other drugs that are harmful if taken frequently or in excessive amounts. The grinding teeth, the roaring refrigerator, the monotonous television, the mocking host, everything is just shockingly familiar.
yea you have, and yes she is, she is otep shamaya from the band Otep, i posted a thread recently about them, check it out, they recently did a cover of "breed" by nirvana, and i really like it, tbh more than the origional, slightly
nirvana are amazing tho, allthough to tell the truth i have been listening to alot of metalica recently- fade to black & whiskey in the jar are just wicked
i dont know much about it, but my grandpa wont go in a hospital because of it...he had to hear it being performed on his mom when he was 11 and she died then, everytime he tries to go into a hospital he has a breakdown
meh imo metallica is like the training wheels of metal, while they do have some killer riffs, they never end up on my playlists for my ipod shuffle. the only thing i dont like about nirvana is that they make me think about heroin, kinda like how when i listen to the album "antichrist superstar" i really wanna do coke, but thats cuz when i pick up the cd i can see the marks from me cutting up lines:tongue: oh man now i want some:hang:
oh maaan i know what you mean, once i got into nirvana i researched what happened to the band, and fuck its one hell of a story - i think it sucks that kurt killed himself, and when i listen to some songs i just think of how this song might have been written while on h. but many other bands are like also, red hot chilli peppers were a bunch of heavy users of all sorts, theres a autobiography out i belive by anthony kiedis, it tells his story from just smoking pot and rapping, to going up and all the drama with his GF and the band, and how all the songs were thought up. so when u hear shit like my zephyr, u cant help but image them like rolling or something staring @ the sky, and just thinking up tabs and rhymes. they rule tho, RHCP FTW!
oh yea and i really dont enjoy RHCP, every song, (except for a few) sound the same to me, kinda like disturbed, but not quite as bad
^ well i read some theories how the note wasnt in his handwriting and shit like that, but just seems like bs - i mean personally i dont question it much when a addict commits suicide - it just happens too often. anyway im not to knowledgeable on the subject, why would courtney kill him?
cuz shes a crazy bitch and he was gonna leave her and take the kid. but hey, dont feel bad, some ppl still believe that Lee Harvey Oswald killed kennedy, and believe that the ATF didnt kill a bunch of innocent ppl at WACO. although those "conspiracy's" are on a different level that courtney love killing kurt
About a year ago after my friend told me not to watch that movie(probably bc of my frequent discussions about suicide combined with its depressing story) I watched it high as fuck at like 2am alone. Awesome movie, Ass to Ass forever.
i always though lee harvey oswald was put into it by the government, kind of tricked, and then he said he would talk so to scramble up the shit they forced a mob guy to kill him. allthough i also found the x files fictional theory a possibility also.
