I've been interested in psychedelics for a long time, but don't have experience with anything other than weed, which have been the most meaningful and spiritual experiences that I have ever had. The thing is that I just don't trust manmade chemicals, especially those which are psychoactive (big pharma corporations and all that... LSD was invented under commission by Novartis, a corrupt corporation with an track record of absolutely terrible business ethics). I just doubt that truly meaningful experiences can come from a pill. Any reason why I should try LSD and why it's different (I really want be able to try it)? How does it compare with more natural psychedelics such as shrooms and peyote?
lsd was accidentally discovered, which to me is such an amazing concept that something so amazing was found completely by chance and they only reason we know its power is cause a certain scientist decided to be a guinea pig
^LSD was indeed made mistakingly by a respected swiss chemist, long before the evolution of over the counter prescription days. It differs from mushrooms and peyote because it is a synthetic drug, which means no large amount of side drugs you take while eating natural psychedelics. People who take peyote are expected to vomit, mushrooms can cause many physical problems too. Acid is the new age psychedelic, just a small peice of paper that will change the lense of your perception, and when its done, its done. I say theres no physical harm in LSD what so ever, but it can effect your way of thinking in some ways. So really theres no explanation for why you should try it, but if your intrested in it your best off to research it via www.erowid.com and then if still intrested, experiement with it.
By the differences between the acid and natural stuff, I was wondering more about the differences in the trip rather than the immediate side-effects. Also, does LSD have any long-term negative cognitive side-effects other than flashbacks? The thing I just can't get over is that it's a manmade chemical, a pill (my interest in social change just started out as a hatred if big pharma). It was created with no purpose other than to sell, whereas the more natural psychedelics were created by God or Nature (whichever you prefer) of their own merit.
you should really look into the history of lsd, its really fascinating. it wasnt created with the purpose to sell, it was accidentally discovered when searching for more beneficial uses of derivatives of ergot. albert hoffman, the chemist that synthesized it decided it should be taken of the shelf where it had been sitting for years and see what the chemical was. the effect it had on him made him realize how incredible the substance was and that it was necessary for research to be conducted on it. the cia and medical programs began running tests on people to study the chemical and a many of the test subjects were not only floored by the experience but felt the need to spread the drug to everyone. ken kesey and tim leary are of the most famous, keasy traveled the country giving out acid with the pranksters and leary created his own religion with lsd as the religious sacrament saying it was gods gift to humans.
Well the trip of LSD is more organized, technical and electric. Mushrooms have more of a random wave system that changes like weather. Cant tell you about peyote cuz ive never done it. You can exept a build up, a peak, followed by the acid buzz, on LSD. The whole trip being 12 hours. And no, LSD was never meant to sell. What hoffman was meaning to make might have been sold, but that would be a cold surpressant. LSD was just a serendipidus discovery that sparked life into the psychedelic movement, because without the discovery of LSD, i doubt the last 2 generations would even know about psychedelics in general.

Then take some LSA comes straight from morning glory seeds, you can eat them straight up! Can't get any more natural than that. Although most people say LSD is generally better than LSA. I haven't done LSA yet, but from my understanding you get roughly the same nature of visuals and insights.
Yep lysergic acid is a naturaly occuring substance. The only thing man did was added dythalamide to it.
just like in nature where you can find plants that are poisons there are synthesized chemicals that are not good for you. there are certain mushrooms that will kill you if you eat them. there are also certain synthesized chemicals that are not good for you. we hear the argument all the time that natural is better but when we look around we realize that if we were to only use things that are natural we would still be living in caves and we would freeze to death because we are afraid of the fire. nature, the universe, or god (whatever way you want to look at it) has made it possible for human beings to exist and create things. if we were supposed to exist but not create than we wouldn't have been given a mind and hands to do so. basically if you want to avoid using LSD because a human being synthesized it then you better move into a cave and learn to grow your own veggies with no tools and learn how to kill an animal with bare hands before you eat it raw. not everything that is natural is good for us - not everything that we have created is bad for us. if you do enough research on LSD you will find that it is a relatively safe chemical. the only real danger is that if LSD is used with a bad 'set and setting' a person can have a bad trip that might have lasting negative effects mentally. as far as physically there is no evidence that LSD is bad for you at all. it doesn't fry your brain or leave you brain damaged. any change that takes place is up to you.
Know your source. LSD is a very powerful drug and unfortunately these days there are some research chemicals being passed around as LSD on blotter.
