i do not fall in for the ron paul trap. i mean its good to vote for him if u agree with his views but dont because its the hip thing to do. i mean hes against same sex marriage, pro-life, he thinks there should be little to no taxes for the help of the poor, hes for the death penalty, and we wants to eradicate most of our government, all of which are beliefs opposite of mine. while he is also very smart on many issues he is just not liberal enough for me to even think about it (although if a republican had to win i would of course want it to be him). i really liked kucinich but i dont see any way he can win. i guess either obama or edwards, not that it matters cause i cant vote :)

Do you know that NO ONE outside of this website that I know "in person" has even heard of ron paul!!!!! I asked my mom this last night, and have been asking others.

There is absolutely no way ron paul will win so stop supporting him because he likes medicinal mj. That's so lame. Like any of you are going to get prescriptions for it anyway. Most of you supporters aren't even old enough to vote.

I'm voting for either edwards or obama and I think one of them will win.

And one of the biggest reasons he "can't" win is because most of the voters who share his views think "there is no way he can win", decide not to support(main way to get your name around) him, and vote for someone for whom they think others will vote. It's that kind of mentality that perpetuates a dual party system.

Ron Paul for me, too. he is the only candidate that wants to restrict government, rather than perpetuate it.

    Ron Paul.
he might not be the answer but it'll lead us in the right way.
im talking about legalization of course. i dont really care about politics, but i do care about legalization, and legalizing medical marijuana and hemp industries is a good start.
i just don't want Hillary or Obama to win..

The media wont show Ron Paul's successes, the only time they show him is when other candidates disrespect him.

here is a video of some dude who doesn't like Ron Paul acknowledging the media blackout https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_nlhZTl0hc

here is a video of a fox news political analyst ordering the censoring of Ron Paul supporters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh2d2uR6s3c

Exactly. You cant base your vote on one issue, that in the big scheme of things isent that god damn important. Yeah it would be nice, but there are a lot more urgent and important things going on in the country. Have you noticed that not one person who said they were voting for ron paul has talked about any of his policies besides weed? I mean I agree for a lot of what he stands for, and I would deffently be excited if he won (although he is not my first choice), but thats mainly just because I agree with a lot of the stances that libirtarians take. And im really big on having the federal goverment back off and give some power back to the states. Im sick and tired of them just over ruling any law that a state makes that they dont agree with. Thats not how the consitution was supposed to work. In my opinion states should be 90% independent, and the federal goverments job should be soley to keep us safe.

I like you and all, but this statement is just funny.. :)

Oh and I don't want hillary to win either. I've heard that she agrees with bush on the iraq war, and obama doesn't. I don't really want a black president or a woman, and I don't think the world is ready yet. But I'm not voting for someone just because he wants to legalize medicinal marijuana. I want someone to get our troops out of iraq. And the best candidate for that would be obama or edwards. And edwards is who i'd like to vote for, but we'll see. I'm not voting independent.. Remember when nader was running? Nah I'm sure most of you don't.. That was what 8 years ago now? Yea it's pretty much a joke.. just like ron paul is. All of you who think you're so smart and cool because there is a prez who may or may not be lenient on the drug laws.

And do you not know that he is a REPUBLICAN? How many of you want another republican in office? You might be able to overlook that information, but the rest of this country is ready to kick those republican bastards out of office!

You guys need to get some life experience and not say you're voting for someone when 1. you're not legal to vote, and 2. you're only listening to him for his drug law policy.

And you need to get your head out your ass /\

I dont see how you can not want a black president, why the fuck does the fact he's black matter? He's a guy running for president at the end of the day and shouldn't be viewed as the BLACK guy running for president. its fucking pathetic.
Stop bitching about peoples age, it makes you look like a patronising bitch

The country, our country thankyou very much UKer.... isn't ready for a black president. And this I know from what I hear from my entire family, my friends, and every single person that I've spoken to about this.
I'm bitching about the people who are jumping on the ron paul bandwagon who aren't even legal to vote. You know their parent's aren't voting for ron paul, and it's just stupid. SO you can get your united kingdom head out of our american asses and fuck off because you don't even live here.

Ron Paul is a republican is the "olden-timey days" type of way. Republicans are just all about state rights, and the belief that the federal government should not be responsible for a lot of the problems we face, it should be left up to the state to regulate how they please. This basically comes down to the people of each state have the power to vote and make their state have the rules and regulations that best suit the people living within that state. Ron Paul is an old Texas guy, he's religious, against abortions and blah blah blah but the difference is he realizes that his PERSONAL agenda has little to do with our country as a whole. He realizes that the power to make laws is up to the people, up to the states, not him.

You shouldn't vote or not vote for someone BASED on their political party. You shouldn't vote for someone based on gender or skin color or religion or whatever. You should do your research, first and foremost, watch the debates, read read read read read, everywhere, multiple sources and then decide for yourself who YOU think is fit, regardless if you think they have a "chance" or not.

And please stop shunning people who can't vote for voicing their opinions on politics. Yeah, legally they don't have a say but it's fantastic to have any intrest in where our country is going and who our future leaders are.

But my point about him is that NO ONE outside of the youtube generation knows about him! So why support someone, and take away that chance for a good candidate such as edwards? I don't really care that obama is black.. But the hicks of this country will care.

This is a lot like the nader thing.. If you vote for ron paul you are throwing your vote away.

Reading your responses to this thread has provided me with a wonderful amount of amusement.

You are just the kind of liberal I tend to avoid in everyday life because appealing to your limited logic is impossible.

The world is not ready for a black president or a woman president? There have already been plenty of black presidents and women prime ministers, presidents, and even heads of state in this world.

Also, you seem to associate all Republicans with Bush... which is just idiotic.

Stop lecturing people just because you think that you're older and wiser. Go out there and learn a thing or two about real politics... not just what the TV you must be glued to all day tells you.

...and telling people who live outside the US to stay out of US politics? Hah! :D Sadly enough, the US affects the entire world by now. Any foreign person has just as much, if not more, interest in who the next US president will be. We are the ones who are suffering because of your foreign policy.

I myself despise politics. I believe that the entire system is corrupt and that none of the major candidates will change a single thing about it. Ron Paul is no saint, but it's actually nice to see people supporting someone who encourages less government intervension in everyday life. Paul is doing a very intelligent thing by running as a Republican. He is much closer to a Libertarian, but he knows that running as an independent would just alienate him from the general public.

    Will he win? Nah.

But I honestly believe that a vote for a major Democratic or Republican candidate is more of a waste of a vote than a vote for Paul or Kucinich.

Anyhow... these elections are next to irrelevant. The US will not get out of Iraq in the next 4 years... there is no chance of it in hell, face the facts. It's too late to save social security. A universal healthcare system will take much longer than 4 years to establish since private hospitals will do everything possible to stop it from happening.

Other than that... there are just social issues which should not even be deciding issues in an election.

So, next time you post... think before telling someone to fuck off. :)

Saying that us "youtube" generations are the only ones who know about Ron Paul is extremely close minded and ignorant. Clearly you are not watching the political debates that are being broadcast NATIONALLY that Ron Paul participates in. You can't use the microcosm that surrounds your life personally to set the standard for the entire country.

I have been truely surprised by the amount of Ron Paul signs on peoples lawns, I see them everywhere. And it is wrong for me to assume that these houses are just stupid youtube generation kids supporting a lost cause. It's also wrong to assume that MOST American's know about him but this is mainly because most Americans will just vote based on what their union does, what their neighbor does, what their spouse does, making it ever more important to spread the word of who you are voting for and get educated on the issues!

I said youtube because he uses youtube to get his name out there.. I've never seen a single ron paul sign, and never even heard his name mentioned on the news once.. I don't like in big old boston like you do so maybe that's why. I live in a small country town and only heard of ron paul because of this site.....

ANyway stella I'm not really passionate about this.. I was just sick of people saying ron paul ron paul, legalize marijuana and them not knowing anything else about him.. I do MY research and that's how I know that I'm NOT voting for him. I'm voting for edwards. Now leave it alone cause I don't feel like writing about this crap anymore.

I don't watch tv.. Maybe an hour out of the day. Why would you assume that I'm glued to it?

ALso this country is associating all republicans with bush right now because of what he's done to our country. There is not one person outside of the republican party who wants to put another republican in office again! So let's be sure to it that that doesn't happen by voting democratic and not throwing our votes away on ron paul.
