Hello, my name is preston nice to meet you. Ive been thinking about dreads for a long long time and I'm finally doing them..well I'm going natural/neglect and it is going good. Mainly the back is knotting up and some have started to form/ I'm ripping them to shape. Anyways I had a question. When making saltwater to spritz your hair with, is there a certian ratio to use? And I jacked some red lobster sea salt cause I'm poor and got a meal today, will that work? Haha. Thanks for reading all.
i too had the same question, ive seen people say to mix lemon juice, sea salt and water, whats the ratio of water/lemon/juice?
i've found just don't over do it. I like to crush the sea salt up, mix it with warm water in a bottle and add some lemon juice. the citric acid will lighten the color of your hair. it's cool. although if you use too much....ITCHES SO BAD!!
Well today I just put like 2 teaspoons of the salt about, in a bottle I washed out and put some lukewarm water in there and shook it up and danced to some specials, then sprayed it all over. It seemed to dry my hair out which was good...then I showered (no soap) and sprayed a bit more on after just for the hell of it. It seems its doing the job.
Alright so I have another question. My hair is knotting and forming dreads and its only been about a month, however my hair is getting somewhat weaker then it was, I know this should be normal but is there anything I can do to help it? I havnt washed in a long time, just hot water on my scalp and saltwater seems to dry the hair and get rid of any grease or anything. But yeah, is it normal for your hair to get weaker while in the process?
youre probably overdoing the salt. that will weaken your hair and make it break. give your scalp a chance to make some oils to condition your hair.
