I'm moving to Europe in a few weeks, and one thing that's hard for me to leave behind (besides my dog, who is definitely going with me) is my books. I've sold some on ebay, I'm leaving others behind, but there are some that I would really like to take with me if I possibly could. It would amount to a couple of boxes, I guess, maybe a little less. I've checked with UPS, and they wanted an absolutely exorbitant amount of money to ship them. They don't have to get there fast-I'm perfectly happy to send them by ship. Does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive way to ship something like this overseas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well, I tought that hipforums was full of veteran world travellers.....nobody knows of a cheap way that I can ship my books overseas?
National postal service by sea should be the cheapest option. I guess USPS is your national postal service? I'd enquire about costs of sea shipping, if you haven't already. Any express shipping company like DHL is going to be hella expensive. Also, a quick search on google led me to this website which might be able to help. I'm sure there are others like it. I shipped 14kgs from Australia to Europe, and it cost me $120AUD. Took a little over 3 months to get there though. That was with Australia Post.
