I didn't really know whether to post this in the art section or the book section, so tell me if I should have this moved. Anyways, does anyone here like reading comics and manga, I personally prefer manga because the stories are about more than just a superhero. They more imaginitive, and Japanese artists dare to be different. I'm currently reading Bleach by Tite Kubo, and I have three Issues of Fullmetal Alchemist and Inuyasha. If you read manga or comics, I'd really like to hear what you read.
Did you do that picture?! - Gobsmacked if you did. I like most cartoon art but read little, just because I'm more hooked on movies for stories. The manga art interests me but it seems too similar to movies with the stories and more tailored to asian culture which interests me now and then, but not overly. I used to love superheroes as a young teen but looking at the stuff that comes out now I like some of the art but care little for the story and the whole stroytelling method. European cartoons are the one style that interests me and influences my own work which is french-belgium in style but very british and adult in terms of story. My strip work's at www.smugglingacation.co.uk by the way and is all set in the world of smuggling cannabis between Spain and the U.K. So is that your artwork? - truely great art whoever did it.
No, I just googled Bleach and voila! I can barely draw a stick figure without making it look incredibly ill.
i am interested in it, like the style. but i hardly know anything abpout that whole world an i don't really know where to startr. if you could give me some suggestions?
Sure! The style really got me interested too, and once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down! If you've never seen anime or manga and you don't know how you'd like it, I recommend a short series (I am currently reading Bleach, its a great series but I'm up to vol. 22 and they're still releasing volumes.) One short series is Cowboy Bebop, its only 3 vol. long, I have volume 1, but I gave it a rest and went after Bleach. Its a pretty good manga. Cowboy Bepop is about bounty hunters in the future who travel from planet to planet trying to track down bad guys, its a lot better than it sounds. Another awesome manga I recomend is Death Note. Its 12 volumes long, if you don't mind reading that much it's a good series. Its about this high school guy who finds this book called the death note. The death note can be used to kill people by writing their names in the book. He decides that he wants to make a utopia by killing the scum of society, ie. murderers, rapists. Its really good! And lastly I recommend Bleach. Its a huge undertaking, but its very rewarding to read, and seeing your bookshelf fill up with the series is kinda fun.[/img]not mine!
i think i already so]aw one movie of cowboy bebop. that was really really cool indeed. loved it, definately. thanks for the other tips, definately gonna check them out!
Maison Ikkoku, that's a good one. And AKIRA. And GTO. There's so many really. When I was younger my bookshelves looked exactly like the one above.
