I'm just wondering if you would be able to smoke opium through a bong, then drink the water afterwards to get high? It makes sense to me because opium is water soluble. I'd assume that some of the goodies from the smoke get contained in the water. It probably wouldn't taste to yummy though, bong water never does. I'm just wondering if you smoked enough opium through the same bong with the same water in it, would you eventually have enough active ingredient in the water to get fucked off of drinking it?

Unfortunatley, both morphine and the hydrated form of morphine are only sparingly soluble in water. These are the forms you get from pods or seeds. It takes 5 liters of water to dissolve 1 gram of this alkaloid. This is the reason citric acid, or dilute HCl is added to the wash.
Maybe it's just a local thing, but for everyone who smokes a bong for their first time around here, it's custom for them to drink the water after... I had to and all my friends had to. It's just a normal thing around here accompanied shortly-after by projectile vomit and/or a placebo of "MAN IM SO FUCKING HIGH"
