Does anyone have any info about what long term side effects Salvia causes? It can't be as bad as alcohol right?

Nobody knows for sure but as far as I know it's non toxic and yes, it cannot be as bad as alcohol. (Nothing is as bad as alcohol LOL)

I have noticed problems with my blood pressure and I feel dizzy sometimes and almost ready to faint (sometimes, usually when I sit down, I feel like I am falling through the floor just like I would feel when on salvia) and it started around the same time I started smoking salvia but I really don't think it's connected... or could it be? I think it's more because I don't eat as much as I should...

My blood is in perfect shape as the doctors told me... maybe I am just imagining this... lol

I remember a few years ago a caller called into love line to ask doctor drew about salvia... I wish I had taped the episode.

I cant remember exactly what he said, but he was convinced it caused changes (not good changes) in the brain... but... not that I hold anything that man has to say as gospel.

Salvia does not have any long term effects other than inhaling carcinogens. (sorry if I mispell, I'm not here for grammar) The chief component salvinorin-a is NOT an alkaloid therefore does not stay in your system or does not receed into a receptor area of the brain. I have seen a MRI of the brain while on Salvia and it's reaction is almost identical as a person taking a extraoridinary amount of oxygen, i.e. light headedness, disorientation etc. Now don't get smart people and say that if you take a deep breath that you get a salvia-like experience. I'm saying the brain's chemical reaction is ALMOST similar to this. But no long term effects have ever been associated with Salvia. But I guarantee you all traditional M.D.'s will say it's bad for you, and these are the same doctors that deny the benifits of marijuana use too. Make up your own mind, as a responsible adult and do the research.
    Peace!

Sorry man but what are you basing that on exactly?, salvia has only been used through smoking for a very short period of time and it's effects on the brain and body have been studied for an even shorter time. No one can state that factually that it was no long term effects because there has been no research done into the possible long term effects due to the fact it can't be untill regular salvia smokers have existed for the long term. I'm aware that it has been used by natives over the long term with no observable LTE's (as far as anyone is aware of) but not through smoking and not in the quantities or with the regularity that it is being used by some of the general population.

Salvia hasn’t been around for a long time so no one knows what the long-term effects are or could be.
The Indians have used it for a long time but there is not recorded info on effects of long-term use from them. Also from what little is recorded the Indians seemed only to use salvia once in a while when shrooms weren’t in season.

Whoa wait a minute, people have been using recreationally salvia since the 70's in the southern states and in cities like Los Angeles, Sacremento, San Antonio. The studies are new of course, but the chemical composition and the fact that salvia is not an alkoloid bring it to our favor. DON'T TAKE MY OPINIONS AS GOSPEL, THEY ARE EDUCATED OPINIONS BUT THEY ARE MY OPINIONS, INHALING ANY CARCINOGEN IS HAZARDOUS, BUT COMPARED TO THAT OF CIGARETTES THE EVIDENCE IS CLEAR. AS LONG AS YOUR ARE ENJOYING LEAF THAT IS NOT TREADED WITH ANY OTHER CHEMICAL i.e. naphtha OR sd alcohol 48b THEN YOU ARE MOST LIKELY ENJOYING A LEAF IN ITS NATURAL FORM. Oh yeah by the way tribes other than the Mazatecs such as the Chichimecas peoples of the Nahua tribe of central mexico have been smoking salvia and they still do. I make buying trips to this area and have seen the people and culutre, If there were any long term effects it would be evident in their development or mental compacity. These people are some of the most friendly to outside visitors and have a beautiful and complex development of art and craft. The main shaman of the town also holds a degree in Cultral History from the University of Mexico. Again these are my opinions, I believe that 99% of the things on earth are safe "IN MODERATION" that is key. On that you are right gobot.
    Peace
