Hey! I'm in Melbourne, Australia and desperately looking for someone to do my dreads for me. Salon prices are completely outrageous, however I am still willing to pay. I would prefer someone who has done em before and knows what they're doin, as I am very particular about what I want em to come out lookin like. My email is s_collins25@hotmail.com if anyone in Melbourne is interested in doin em for me :D
    Cheers,
    Simi.

you'd be surprised. I'm the biggest spaz of all.
all I did was play with my dreads. section off a piece and just backrub it with my fingers.
over the course of 7 months I now have fat lovely dreads.
just for the record. i blew my mind with this experiment. didn't need anything fancy at all.
    love

Here's an idea, do you have a hair school, you know the ones that students give cheap cuts cause they are not yet graduated, you can always check into that and offer to pay by the hour. Say $20. Otherwise, I would say do it yourself, I did my own first set and my hair was mid back. I was nervous and I had a good idea of how I wanted them to look, I was super pleased with how I did, AND I know that all my love and hard work went into my own hair ;)

nature takes care of her own. Locks are a natural process that really don't require any "doing" Its more not doing... just stop brushing/combing your hair. Don't use conditioner and wash your hair once a week or so. If you want to jumpstart the process you could always backcomb which really doesn't require any finesse or expertise. Just grab a chunk of hair and tease the shit out of it. Just don't do anything stupid and waste your money in a salon or on wax. If there is one virtue you learn from growing locks its patience.

Check out the local TAFE campuses around there, usually they need people to test their stuff on,
Just give them the general gist of backcombing and what not, which you can find info around here and stuff.

Alternatively, you can give it a few and let it locc up on its own! :)
