I was wondering if you have taken psychedelics despite if you have a genetic tendency towards schizophrenia, like if there was someone related to you with it, would you go ahead and experience the world of psychdelia? Do you know stories related to this question?
my grandma has it really bad, and she's got bi-polar, though i don't know really what the difference would be. i might end up with it when i'm older, though i'm not worried about it at all. i know it can be genetic, but if it happens it does, and i'd recommend doing the drug and not worrying about it until it happens.
umm well my bro schizo along w/ maybe a few more people im not aware of, in my family, but I've done acid, shrooms, x, weed, benadryl, dxm, other pharms and pills, ketamine, nitrous, coke, and idk... you get the point. I think it skipped me. Then again those are famous last words.
my dads side actually has a long history of schizophrenia. My dad doesnt and neither does my mom but my 2nd cousin I know for a fact has it and I think my grandpa and his siblings may have it. Now for my dads mom side... her family is very southern based (south carolina tabacco growers) and were farm folk. Living where they lived and doing what they did and the rumors I've heard it really wouldnt suprise me if there is schizophrenia on that side along w/ mass murderers haha. My moms side may have a history but im only aware of depression. Im not depressed or schizophrenic. Like I said I think it skipped me Im a pretty social, optimistic, happy individual... All 3 of those things point against me being schizophrenic. For a while I thought I may have been at risk but its because I was doing dxm, and benadryl at the time... doing both the drugs always result in me being slightly paranoid afterwards. I've quit most use of these drugs tho. Only drugs I'll do now are K, Weed, Nitrous, and acid on occasion.
I have a form of Psychosis and I've taken magic mushrooms. Wouldn't of been a problem if I hadn't if I had taken my meds the night before. I was tripping like mad the Psychosis how ever started up and the voices and visions got nasty and scary. Start out as a 'wow I'm tripping' After about an hour I wanted it to stop because it was getting horrible in my head. Smoked some weed because I heard that would make it stop, didn't stop the trip. It was like being stuff in a negative thought trap. I just had to ride it out. Still gonna do mushrooms again but it's hard to find them online (on sites that don't care about the UK LAW) If your skizo and you want to try these drugs just make sure your on the right meds and you'll trip fine.
well, xevan, youre only 17, the disease generally strikes from now till your early twenties. the way i see it, a young teen could go in any direction. 17 you should know whether odd thoughts are pointing to clinical help, and by 21 you should have a general idea of your chances of falling to schizophrenia. but yeh, i think that even having no 'known' family history of schizophrenia makes very little difference as to the actual likelihood of you developing schizophrenia - family histories only stretch back a few generations for most people, maybe only two at the most for other people. anyway the same meds that are used to calm psychotic episodes are used to numb psychedelic experiences - i think it would probably end up lame
I have Alzheimer's running in my dad's side of the family, maybe my mom's too... I know my mom's side has depression and I got that tenfold. (lucky me, eh?) I don't really worry too much about getting Alzheimer's, by the time it hits you're old and nobody likes you anymore anyways That being said, I think I have a very good chance of developing it when I'm older... Not sure why, it's just a feeling I have.
I dont believe i'm schizophrenic but i've had schizophrenic episodes in my lifetime! I put myslef into a hospital once, by my mothers request. I was given some anti phsychotics like depakote, respiredal, and seroquil, to take which calmed me down. After i calmed down and left the hospital, things started to get back to normal and i dind't see or feel anything out of the normal.I never tooken any of the anti psychotics they prescibed to me again. I've tooken cocaine, extacy, ketamine, ghb, shrooms, marijuana, and salvia. I felt the most empty on cocaine, the most spiritually enlightened on shrooms, and the most bugged out on salvia. I think if you believe your schizophrenic or have other pscychologic disorders to be with someone your close to while trying any psychodelic drug. Allso. take your meds if you do believe they help you. Note: This forum is for entertainment purposes and not to be tooken seriously.

what I said on my earlier post is my personal experience, but everyone is different. Just cause I tried a couple psychedelics and was ok it doesnt mean I would encourage people with schizoprenia to do the same. Thank you for the entertainment advice, but if i wanted that kinda entrtainment i would just go watch a porno movie.
I tend to think the dopamine theory of schizophrenia is most accurate in most cases. So if it is in your family be sure to avoid long lasting stimulants and if you do decide to trip, don't do it often, and have a sober sitter.
I have had a couple skitzo moments, but hardly a normal thing. I had back in the day a neighbor, with huge family skizo mixed in, this guy took too much acid and it popped out extremely hard, that poor guy was nuts! he'd have a crazy episode almost everyday, he never ever ever slept, he had is other sides pop out all the time, you could see it happening, you seriously can tell the real from the fake when the real is staring you down. I remember once, 1 part of him decided to eat some shroomies, then mid trip his mind switched and called the cops on his other side that ate the shrooms, it was hella nuts. then one day he disapeared, all his shit was left in his place but he was just gone, I ran into his father a few times after that looking for him, last I known he's still missing. one of those people you dont think of very often and the name slipped my mind. he was an odd guy, he always had a huge bag of schwaggy weed that one part would give handfuls away of whilst another side hoarded, think he had a straightedge side mixed in too but the rest were relatively 420 friendly.
My best friend was diagnosed bi-polar when he was 18 after he had his first 2-week schizo episode. It was a euphoric natural trip for him, so he was fine afterwards. When he was 21, shit hit the fan with his family and he went crazy after his dad sued him and kicked him out of the house. (Typical family strife - not about drugs.) Now he is living with his 2 other schizophrenic aunts and his pedophile uncle with downs syndrome and he has been going through horrible paranoid episodes every few weeks. This is clearly an environmental stimulus for his illness. From ages 18-21 he smoked a good amount herb and only took two separate doses of mushrooms. He stopped all drugs when he turned 21 so he could sober up for a job drug test, so he was clean for a while before he went crazy. He was asking me if I think the psychedelics (herb included) had anything to do with his issues now and I said no. Normal onset of schizophrenia is 21-23 years of age so he's right on schedule. I think that people with mental illness like this should take those years up to 21 to have fun with psychedelics in moderation, but once schizophrenia begins to onset, you have to stop or you'll give youself more problems. I'm glad he got to experience what we did. He is now spiritually "turned on" which is going to help him get through some tough times ahead.
