*I just asked all the same things about Portland, if the following seemsfamiliar*

Quick question, and the pertinent one if I decide to move out there:

Do folks convene in public, at all? It seems that here in the Northeast, unless you are in NYC or Boston, most folks are quite reclusive. Like "hibernation" reclusive. Just to clarify, I do NOT consider hanging out at the mall "convening in public". I'm talking like, in parks, etc., and, specifically, the late-twenty- to thirty-something crowd.

It just seems to me *getting up on soapbox* that folks have lost the ability to talk to each other, even strangers, in real life. It's all by proxy through cellphone, messenger, and email. I'd just assume find a place where that hasn't happened yet. *Stepping off soap box*

Also, if you could give me any head's-ups about Seattle, that'd be cool too.

Well even in the younger 20's it like that. Seattle as a city is very reclusive. One thing that almost everyone i know, of all ages, says is its hard to meet people here. Unless your at a university and fit in with that crowd, its hard. Iv met some good people and created good friendships. It just takes alot of talkin here. It seems that people really watch themselves.

Some people cant stand the cold weather. Its always clowded here. Rain and clowds. Summers are perfect temps though.

Everywhere is proxy now. Well everywhere iv been in the USA is. Also Seattle is a business city and is still heading that way.

Dont forget Seattle is very beautiful. Its not all concrete.

Well, The Parks Are Nice, But Take Care, I Read About The Crime, And It's Not Saafe Anywhere. Lots Of Small Playhouses, And Theatre Still? Find Out About The Activists, They Will Stear You Right, Groups Can Help Depending On What. And Good Luck Family, Love Yas All. Miss Seattle.

yeah it's definitely more of a capitalistic vibe than portland is. I lived in Portland for 2 years and I miss the abundance of hippies and a brotherly feeling everywhere you go. Seattle has that element, but it's sorta buried under mainstream culture.

I came to Seattle on purpose though. I like the undulating hills everywhere you go and the smell of air that just came in off the ocean, and the way that in any given place in this huge of a city, you feel like you're in a small microcosm with nature and humans coexisting independent of outside influence. It's funny that squirrels and racoons enjoy sex in the tree outside the window. It actually makes the thought of human sex debasing and carnal.

I personally wish all the ppl who didn't like the wet, cold weather would just move already. The city's crowded enough without them B&M'ing about it. The wetness was one of the reasons I came here. The rain is dramatic and thoughtful; maybe it's why the population is comprised of a number of intellectuals. I grew up in Utah, with oppressively extreme ideologies and weather; it makes Seattle weather seem very mild, and often the rain is light enough that you can still go outside. I prefer it; that way there are fewer people in the park so I feel more comfortable blazing a bowl (not that anyone here would really care anyway, maybe I just don't want to share[IMG])go seahawks

I am merely stating facts. Meth has over taken much of the scene in Seattle, its not as rainy as you would think. Someone once asked me, is it raining out? I had to look down at my sleeve to see if it was wet.
The fact that there is peroids of no sun, greatly affects people. No where in any other city have I seen the extreme preverstion with people. Like masterbating on the bus and such. Really, number one pervert capital. Almost all winter long, everyone walks around looking at the sidewalk, totally emotionless, not get even a mild response from someone is difficult. People are not as smart as you would think there.
After Beiog moved, the economy crapped out. But everyone stayed, because they where so attached to the place. To get a job making samwiches, you were up against, an enginnner, and a compuer geniuos.
The police there are nazis, they are afraid of the people more so than other cities. But they are typical big brother. Okay, Seattle, areas around there are very very beutiful. Uh, what a shit hole, god I am glad I was finally able to leave there after 6 years. Aviod the blackhole, go to Oregan

mostly. the population represents many different backgrounds and classes. those who are emotionally impervious to constant grey weather are a minority

but also I recently heard that seattle police de-prioritized marijuana related crimes. I think that only applies to seattle proper
