Happiness certainly is the purpose of life, but if we were designed to be happy, then you can go tell the guy who designed that he made a mistake in his plans.
Bullshit, why? You can't control your external circumstances, but only you can control your response to them. You can choose to wallow in misery or take pleasure in life. The choice really is yours. But I would seriously like to know why you don't believe that. Peace
For the last 4 years I have been trying so, so hard to escape depression. I was fucking desperate and I kept fighting. I could NOT win. Now another person has done for me what I thought impossible.
If you're really only 15 and have been fighting depression of 4 years, that is brutal. 4 years is a huge chunk of your life. The fact that you kept fighting for so long shows incredible inner strength. You're awesome!
You CAN be happy in any circumstance, trust me. The difference lies in the difficulty. It is harder to be happy in some places than in others. The hardest place to be happy in is the place where you wake up and the first thing you want is money. The place where every few minutes you see a police officer and it SCARES you. This fucking place where everyone struggles to scrounge up a few bucks to buy their few moments of oblivion and what they call bliss when in the meantime the rich folks at the top of the food chains pull all the strings. It IS tough to be happy while pursuing the goals our society tells us we should have. Think into the future of your life in society, are you so sure that its going to be getting better? If you want to be happy, leave. Run like hell.
