Can someone tell me something about these necklace things and other stuff that were made at woodstock, which you can buy on www.peacefence.com ? I don't know if they are real, and my parents don't believe it at all.. how can I convince them? if they are real.. then that would be so cool. peace and love wished your way, George
Sorry kid, they ain't real. Though that doesn't make them worth anything less. Does it matter if they were made at Woodstock? If you think so, ask yourself why. P.S. - No hippie with a conscience would charge $39.95 for a piece of chain link fence. P.P.S. - I've seen similar peace necklaces at a local hip shop for $4.
nah it doesn't really matter, I agree with you .. but it would be cool if you had a piece of woodstock history.
Not if you weren't there in the first place. Then you're trying to recapture someone else's memories... make your own! It was just a 3 day concert. Not to sound like a "bad hippie" or whatever, but too often Woodstock is held up as the pinnacle achievement of the hippie sub-culture. I think that does a disservice to us all, and the change, however minimal, that was enacted as a result of so many people taking to the streets and standing up. ...Now I'm ranting.
floydianslip6, you actually make sense... you see, that is the problem I'm dealing with. I don't want to live in 2008, it's like I don't wanna face reality. I'm stuck.
You're not stuck George, you may FEEL stuck or think that you are, but I assure you you're not. You may find yourself thinking now you don't want to live in 2008 and that the 60s seem romantic, but had you lived in the 60s who knows where you'd be, any claims you'd make are speculation. Today is your day and it's the only one you've got. It happens to be 2008, so whatcha gunna do about it? Build the life you want to live within yourself.
are you a poet or something? you sound like one. well yeah I'm not stuck.. but the thing is is that all my interests are very different from the interests of the people i live with and my friends. my interests were popular in the 60s. but youre right, what ya gonna do about it. I'm living NOW.
I ain't no poet But thanks. A lot of people have been where you are. Honestly I think the struggle of finding people that agree with your 60s interests is all part of it. I mean, how hip would it be to be a hippie if no one was square? Just keep on truckin' and I'm sure everything will come to the front for you. Even if it takes a while. Heh, and keep your eyes out for scam artists trying to get you to drop $40 on chain link fence.
It's a shame people abuse names like Woodstock and Che to make money out of it.. Ah well, just keep an open view indeed. And although I guess if it was original it would be worth quite some money I would never buy it... And please don't see yourself different from other people, because in the end everyone is different (which makes us all have at least something in common, hah)!
i could be wrong, but wasnt there a setup at woodstock 99 with a broken gate from woodstock 69? with a story about how it was the only part of it left that didnt get bulldozed? it was part of a display by a woodstock historical group or something. im calling the necklaces to be bullshit, unless someone can PROVE otherwise, and not some COA, that anyone can print up.
This is my favorite shop to visit whenever I go to Woodstock (I was there this past sunday, check out Taco Paco's if you ever get a chance - great Mexican food!). Maybe you can get something from there and feel good knowing it came from Woodstock. ~SPeace
Well, if you've visited the cozy little town, you'll see that they don't have a problem perpetuating the myth that it did occur in the town itself. I think that's why I love Woodstock.
