Hey so remember how Starbucks sucks? Well I worked there and I do - now don't get me wrong, I get that some people are gunna like their coffee and hey, go for it! But I work at the new Vancouver based - Italian family owned Take 5 cafe now and our 8th location has opened in the Metropolis Metrotown Mall in Burnaby so come check us out! We offer magical organic products and authentic Italian methods of production, and we are very environmentally friendly! We are in the corridor on the way to the foodcourt and right outside Dynamite and near the Armani Exchange - we won't get chairs and tables until Friday and we aren't getting a Take 5 logo sign for about a week sadly, but we are the only cafe location in the area so not easy to miss ;P Tell them Carolyn sent you and get a sweet discount!!
will be in vancouver area in the spring ...richmond to be exact ..hope to stay there long enough for the arrival of my first grandchild
MAGICAL! if you are 4:20 friendly be sure to stop by the Amsterdam cafe on hastings and cambie downtown! or if you're feeling like a trip through the ghetto have a stop by the herb school of drug war on hastings and main - though I wouldn't recommend the second one if you don't have anyone with you that knows the area ... lol
I might be spending a night and day in Vancouver in January. Whats the deal with the Amsterdam Cafe and what else would you suggest doing/seeing? Note: I know very little about Vancouver
Are there many places like that around? I heard theres some up in whistler as well (I'll be there for 4-5 nights). And where can you buy weed?
actually if you go upstairs, you certainly can buy weed but you have to pay a minumum of 20$. you get about two ounces and it's usually incredibly potent. the amsterdam is on the corner of west hastings and cambie, and its right next to victory square you honestly cant miss it! other than that I would recommend checking out some nightclubs like plush down at the plaza of nations, or heading out to stanley park. definitely check out the sea wall. if you like checking out some interesting shops, theres commercial drive, W 4th ave, the Broadway Corridor and Main St.
MARLYN! Holy jeeze I didn't even know you were still on the hipforums! Hahaha that is beyond rad, man
I'm headed to Vancouver in Feb. and I would like to know where I can find some classic music like Bram Tchaikovsky,or Joy division and such.Anything early 80's, can anyone point me?Where are the good clothing stores?
A related but unrelated topic...seems like it would be a chill coffee shop to go..I too am sick of the Starbucks horde....marketing Stevie Wonder...and Joni Mitchell..and....dont even get me started. I am currently seeking employment about the realms, and am looking ideally for a shop with good vibes. I work so close to the Amsterdam cafe! Well on occassion. Would you happen to know if places are hiring..with a mellow vibe in the area? much thanks!
..obviously. Meant elsewhere...she had mentioned there were a few locations...basically...just a what's out there inquisitive ness on my part. Sitka...like the surfboards right?
Haha not as rad as that mountain of salt your licking! And I too didn't know you were still on this website! magical! You could try this place on seymore and davie downtown - its called anti hero, and then right beside it is a retro clothing store, but its kind of overpriced - and then theres another one on robson and granville downstairs between the two babylon cafes. You can find tons of vinyls on hastings right on the same block as the amsterdam at hastings and cambie! so perfect.
Thanks for the tips, I'll be arriving in Vancouver late on the 16th and headed up to whistler on the 18th. I've read that its fairly easy to get some decent shrooms in Vancouver. Anybody know how true this is or where my best bet is to find em. Thanks again.
YES! I do I know everything lol jk um you can go to main and hastings then head west on hastings towards Columbia street and theres a place that has bars on the windows (ok so this *sounds* way scarier than it is, but trust me, just don't look anyone in the eyes - haha just kidding - the homeless people in this area are harmless, and even though you think that at any minute they are all going to gang up on you and use strength in numbers, they won't as they are a bit busy trying to get a meal and so on. I feel so bad for these people, and I would want to feed them, but I'm certain that if I were to give one of them food they *would* all gang up on me and steal said food poor guys :*( ) And its called the Vancouver Museum of Drug War History and Organic Culture - otherwise known as the herb school. But now since all these lam drug busts have been going on, they've been installing more security . Like any illegal organisation they had rules and secret codes (which any pothead would find fun and entertaining ) like You could only use the back room services (ie buy weed) if you'd been on the tour, or if someone who had been on the tour took you. The tour is easy enough - meet at the phallic structure in the middle of victory square on cambie and hastings - right across the street from the amsterdam at 3:00 pm. They sometimes don't have the tour but they have a number you can call if you're from out of town and really really want to buy weed or see the tour. it takes an hour and half and I myself haven't been on it - I went to the school a day or two ago to get some Pooh (my personal favorite - knocks you on your ASS) and they said I had to go on the tour to use the services despite the fact that I know the doorman and what not. sooo I think I'll find myself doing that sometime soon, as I avoid dealers because they like to push CRACK which I hate. The herb school sells all sorts of stuff like shrooms, brownies of the magical sort, hash, and so on. The dealers will have different kinds of weed on them - they have usually three different breeds with different potencys - and the price isn't the potency label, its just the cost of import or how far away the weed was grown (I know, bonus) and they usually have things like 1 to 1 which would be 10 bucks a gram I think - its been a while since I went there sadly it was awesome cuz one of the dealers has a dog and like when I went there before it was a puppy and now its like this monster that all the stoners are like amazed by hope that helps.
The story about the tour and the secretiveness sounds just fuckin hi-larious! I'm gonna have to ramble on up to BC when the weather gets warmer. Perhaps I should throw a party to introduce myself to the locals... Spin the wheel Vancouver?
