Right, so a friend got me high for the first time on Wednesday and I came home a little buzzed, I slept, got up, ate dinner, slept, ate a second dinner, then tried going to bed after a few hours of screwing around, but I couldn't sleep at all. The next day I go through my day like normal, try going to bed at 11, can't, I get up, stay up until 12, drink a ton of warm milk, put on some light music to help me, and the most I get is a very light sleep for a few hours. Today I tried getting some sleep after school (early release, I was home by 11), got a semi-decent nap in, but I was still tired. I tried to get some more sleep a few hours ago and I still can't fall asleep.

I read somewhere that after smoking marijuana and going off of it you can experience some mild effects of lack of hunger, nausea, and insomnia. But then I also know that marijuana has no physical addictions, so I really doubt this is withdrawel, I'm assuming it's because my body isn't used to the presence of the drug, and just something from a first time. Will this go away as my tolerance goes up from smoking more? I'd hate to have to associate pot with a few days of no sleep every time I want to do it.

    LOL

sorry kid, but um, you've gotta be smoking for awhile, atleast once a day for a few months - THAN quit and maybe, just maybe you'll get some withdrawl symptoms.

I figured that, that's why I thought it was just getting used to the pot

your sleeping issues probably stem from something else. or maybe you´re just trying too hard to fall asleep.
    try this:
lay on your back, put one hand on your chest, one on your stomach. breathe in and out three times as SLOWLY as you can. however slow you´re breathing, try to breathe slower while still doing it comfortably. dont think about anything else and just focus on your breath.

in no time, you´ll fall asleep. the whole idea is to calm down your mind and body so it can switch modes. i always notice that my heart rate is beating faster than what it should for how slow i´m breathing. just let it even out and you´ll start to feel very relaxed. you have to try not to try to fall alseep (dont put a lot of effort into attempting to fall asleep).

usually weed can help you fall asleep. although sometimes, if i smoke right before bed, i start thinking WAY too much and will lay there stoned outta my mind thinking about stuff.

Thanks for the help, I think withdrawel was the wrong word. What I mean was: Could this be because my body is simply not used to the weed? Or is it pretty much other problems?

When I stop smoking the only thing I feel is regret that I'm not smoking (at night that is). After 3 days or so that seems to stop. It's like anything. When you develop a habit then suddenly forgo that habit, it feels odd.

dont worry e___, and like you said, withdrawal IS the wrong word. Like many have suggested above, it could be that you are paranoid, excited, or have other issues in life that could be effecting your sleep. Don't worry about it, and I would stay it is most probably not the weed that is causing your problems of sleep (unless, as i said, you are excited about smoking the best herb on the planet!)

try laying in bed, and relaxing everything from your toes up one at a time.
you can even talk to yourself. "Feet, go to sleep" that always works for me when I can't sleep, and if I've already smoked.

I would think it was psychological... like you do have insomnia but its all your subconcious doing something keeping you awake cause you have the idea of weed causing problems in the back of your mind. hope you can understand that haha...
