I've been touching my earlobe since I had it pierced and I didn't get any infections, but it's best to wait six weeks!

It is best to always avoid touching your piercings without clean hands. Think about it, your piercing is a little skin tunnel, moist and warm. Your fistula is the ideal breeding ground for germs. If you ever get a little tearing or scratch in the hole, you are inviting infection.

That said, alot of the problems with touching new holes come from the actual motion, not the dirty hands. Twirling, playing, and pulling all cause problems. If you wash your hands with a anti-bacterial soap, you should be fine with just sea salt soaks. Over-cleaning with bactine etc is just as bad as undercleaning
