    Hi everyone.

I'm thinking about going to India this year. However, I'm a university student so my semester ends in late April... the earliest I could be there would probably be early May. I've heard that monsoon season generally starts around July and carries through until September. I'd mainly be doing a backpacking trip, meandering around and finding my way through that crazy country. It seems fantastic.

But what I wanted to ask is if summer is a reasonable time to go. I'm guessing it would be ridiculously hot, and then when monsoon hits I'd think it would be rather problematic to be roaming around. Is there a particular part of India that might be alright for traveling in the summer? Himalaya area, etc? Or is summer an OK time in general?

I've really just begun thinking about this, so feel free to give any advice you'd like. Thanks!
