As many of you don't know, I'm beginning my journey of Natural dreadies. After 8 days all I'm getting is endless curls. I don't know if maybe my hair won't work out because I'll grow an endless sea of curls, but was it like this for anybody else? Also, do you guys suggest twisting my hair and such, maybe even backrubbing with my fingers? I'm probably over worrying because I just don't want to mess them up. I'm very aware though, that all I need is patience, still it worrys me. =( Namaste, John.
Quiet Mind, I have already considered Back combing and have decided against it. You know better than anyone on here that I prefer to view and experience things from the Naturalist aspect than anything else. So Naturally, (no pun intended) I am going to go about dreads in an all Natural matter. I can't wait to see where the journey takes me either. Nothing much is up, hey I'm going to send you a Friend request. Catch me on the Random Thoughts will ya? Peace and Love, John. Marijuana is Nature.
Denny I tried sending you a PM but due to your low post count, I can't yet. So here it is. http://www.ivu.org/faq/ Here you go. Something that helped me as a Beginning Vegetarian, best of luck. Namaste, John.
Bro, the ONLY way to fuck dreads up is to put wax in them. Backcomb them, rub them, twist them, doesnt matter. It just takes time.
give them time! they will take ages to be real dreads anyway, so just enjoy not having to maintain your hair and dont worry, theres no way you can fuck them up.
Hey, a quick question to anyone still tuning in. Is there a shop that has Dr. Bronner's Soap? Or do I HAVE to get it online?
about the soap - check out any natural foods stores. or the organics section of larger grocery stores. any place that sells natural products. you should be able to find it. and stop thinking about getting dreads. apply this saying to your hair: "a watched pot never boils." stop thinking about getting dreads in terms of days, and start thinking in terms of half-years (six months). or longer. i know you probably wont want to do this, but i say it to make a point. letting your hair naturally knot up is going to take a long time. especially for your whole head to finally all be dreaded. since you seem to have really curly hair, the whole process will go a lot faster for you. all those curls will begin to knot up with other curls and before you know it, you´ll have some killer knots forming. just dont forget to rip some apart every now and then, otherwise you´ll end up with a monster comin off your head. not that it´s a bad thing (that´s pretty much all i had on my head), but when you´re just starting, you´ll want to keep up on it. enjoy the process! dreads themselves are not a means to an end. they are a PROCESS that will always be changing and growing. also keep in mind that dreads are a forward-moving process. once you notice a little knot forming, it probably wont undo itself. as time progresses, you´ll notice more and more. from there, they´ll only build themselves stronger and stronger.
Awesome response bro, A+. Thanks for the advice, I've never really thought about looking at it in longer term goals. Lately, I haven't really been worrying about it too much, every 2 weeks or so I check up on my head. I guess I'll do a 6 month mark from now, sounds like a plan. Thanks again. Peace and Love, John.
