I'm heartened by the discussion on Port T...
tell me what sequim is like (possible job) for progressives: music, natural foods and transportation time to Seattle ?

I know it's a retiree haven of sorts: does that mean they control it?

    all info appreciated.

I love that area. much wetter and rural. most people take their car across puget sound via ferry. takes an hour to 1.5 hours.perhaps less. or you could drive around the sound, through olympia. it's equivalent cost-wise, but I believe it takes longer. at least 2 hours

maybe that specific area is. it's hard to say that's there's one governing principle about weather anywhere in wester WA. there's variations of weather in different geographical pockets. there can be like a dozen different climate patterns within a 10 square mile area. I was thinking more of the strait of juan de fuca in general. it gets a lot of wind and rain storms funneling through it, but there can certainly be pockets of more temperate weather in the area

sequim actually gets the least amount of rain out here on the coast, and the most sun.
(normally)its been that way for as long as i've been around.

Why stop a Sequim? Try Vancouver Island. It is green in every way you can think. Farther up towards Mid-Island is drier than you'd think. And Tofino is amazing.

isn't it a bit difficult to immigate there? from what i read online, they won't let just anybody move there from the US.

Hell, I've never really have had any problem. But then, I work in Alaska so I'm gone for about a month at a time. I think you should at least give it a look. Certainly there are plenty of yanks on Van Island selling crafts and whatnot, not offical, just hangin' cool and flying under the radar screen.

Hello, I see a lot of old messages about Sequim. That is where I live, moving here from Seattle and Lynnwood 7 years.

Awww your from Sequim, I was just out there a few weeks ago, I actually lived in a little cabin inbetween PA and Sequim. Lots of cool people out there, though (and take no offense) mostly older (i'm only 29). I mostly hung out with people that had kids my age, groovy people who loved their wine.
