Just wondering where you artists, drawers, painters etc get your most valued inspiration from? Is it from books, nature, relationships etc? Im having a bit of trouble creating new ideas, i feel like im going raound in circles a bit. I know you should just focus on what facinates you or your mood or whatever but i want something totally fresh to explore. Like maybe eqyptian culture or something. Is it a good idea to try capture the essence of something you havn't experienced? what do you do when the page is blank? x
Well first off if the page is blank, do a color wash over it. Then maybe look at some pics, either magazine, or esp ones you take yourself. Just remember to have fun, it just art!
I encountered this problem recently. Something seemed to just click in my head and I did it. I love music, so I figured I could find my art within the music. I popped on the doors, laid on my floor, and put both speaker about a foot away from my ears. The lights were out and I closed my eyes. Thoughts seems to flood my head at first, but once I focused on one, it seemed like it became more detailed and every little aspect of it came to me. It was quite a nice experience. Well, it may work for you or I'm just a weirdo.
that a really cool idea, im gonna do that and see what ideas i come up with, n i luv the doors aswell
I take inspiration from existance. The wrold around me, the world in me (in my body, in my mind); the things I see, hear, smell, breath, touch, feel, taste, say, experience, think about, imagine, ect. There is so much in this world to experience and draw inspiration from. So much that i can't even put into words. Anything and everything is my insiration.
I get inspiration from theworld around me, particularly colours and texture. I sometimes draw an incident from my life or someone elses. Sometimes I try to capture my mood or the mood of music and finally I like hidden or secretive things...like things that are not as they seem and reveal. I'm so tired. I'm not sure that makes sense!
I agree with this. When the page is blank just let your hand do what it wants to do, let it flow. Its just fun and expressive and then you see what you can do. Inspiration just comes... if you try to force it to come, it won't. Looking at other art helps a lot too and its just good to do if you're an artist. Since you're interested in egyptian art you should definitely look some stuff up, that will surely inspire you.
