I used to have a Dell laptop, and I somehow changed the desktop background so that when I played music in windows media player the screen effects that show up in the "now playing" section played on the desktop. I don't remember how I did it. I have been trying to remember for the past week putzing around and still can't figure it out. does anyone know what I am talking about? can you help me?

hey. I would recommend downloading a program called VLC (media player).
    It plays EVERYTHING!!!!
no more worries about codecs and plugins.
Im not exactly sure what it is that you are explaining.
Maybe you can provide more details.
Im sure it is something simple.
    Im happy to help.

Good call. VLC is great. Mplayer is easier to use, and plays everything. To be honest, VLC and Mplayer are about equal.
