Ok, so I have a few questions about growing that I am hoping you all can answer.

1: Mushies can grow on all sorts of things. I hear talk of perlite, verm, rye, rice, popcorn, and any combination or layering of these things. Damp layers, dry layers, everyone has their own opinion and I wanted to find out what is most widely considered the best way of doing it. What's your preference of substrate/substrates? (I bought a bag of organic rice today, but I think I could do better.)

2: Lostdazedintime from this forum said that i could add Tryptamine HCI to my substrate to increase potency. I hear it can be bought legally online from chemical manufacturers. I spent some time on google looking for it but couldn't find anywhere to purchase it, or really get any good info on it at all. Does anyone know anything about this chemical or where it can be purchased?

3: Today in the gardening section of Wally-World I noticed some Miracle-Gro and was wondering if it could work on fungus as well as plants and vegetables. Would it work? If not, do you have any recommendations about nutrients I can add to increase the volume of my harvest?

4: What's the easiest way to keep the humidity where I need it without having to mist this thing all the time?

Thanks in advance for the help.

substrate=rye berries and bird seed mixed 60/40
Tryptamine HCI =waste of time, IMHO
Miracle gro = is a no go
Humidity= keep water in the bottom of your bin. Place your grow trays in the bin. Keep the room or closet at 80-84 degrees. Humidity accomplished.

If it's your first time do a search for the PF tek. Read at alot of different forums like http://www.shroomotopia.com Read all you can. Be as sterile as you can. Mushrooms don't grow on perlite. It is often used in the bottom of fruiting chambers.

Are you talking substrate or spawn? Coco coir is a nice simple substrate that people get really good results from. Horse poo and or straw is better, but is a little more difficult to implement.

This is an outdated claim and is widely considered not true. Don't mess with it imo.

No, don't use it. Some people use the moisture control mix as a casing layer, but that's it.

A humidifier works. But really if you can't make time for misting, you may want to reconsider growing mushies. There are some methods that allow you to sit back and watch, ie: monotub, but that's one of the few. There's also perlite.

Seems like you may want to do some more research. Check out http://shroomery.org . They have MASS amount of info, and lots of teks and faqs and all that good stuff.
