man i vibe with you to the fullest. Drugs fucked my world up. When i was 16 i never thought any drug could do me wrong...but i was quite stupid/immature/intemperant and just down right irresponsible. I rolled so hard once of a gram of unadulterated kit tested MDMA molecule that my friends had to put me in a cold shower to keep my body temp down...down right DUMB. Even LSD has caused me some problems, Not in a neurotoxic fashion. Just too much to fast. I've done mass quantities of coke to the point where i though my heart was going to explode out of my chest and spent thousands. I hate drugs and how i cant ive without them.

One thing i dont understand is in what regards your post relates to the one you quoted. I agree with the guy you quoted. LSD definitely fits months worth of perception in a 12 hour timespan. I think so anyway, it has for me. My drug therapist and i have come to the conclusion that alot of the things the cause me anxiety on a day to day basis are things that middle aged people that have lived for long periods of dwell on. Ex...lot's of death anxiety, constantly worrying about senile dementia, hypochondria, war, violence, all sorts of different things. In a way it's not too much of a bad thing, because i feel this sort of hightened sense of awareness. To say i've seen the bigger picture is an understatemnt. It's like i was living my life with tunnel vision that was blocking out 99.99% of the universe, now i see it all. The good the bad; the beautiful and the ugly. Sometimes i wish i could block it all out and just focus on making my own life better, but my life just seems insignificant to war/global climate change/religious hypocracy/other problems faced by the word as the whole. All this due to the awesome force that is Lysergic Acid Diethylamide. It has changed my life so profoundly in so many ways that words cannot begin to explain. My words of advice would be to respect it. It's not a toy and sometimes I feel like I havent treated it with enough respect. I dont believe in religion...LSD is the Body and Blood of my own divinty. Happy trails children, and trip on until the colors dissolve!!

i'm gonna take a wild guess and say you probably think you're wiser than me. :)
if not, well, that's good. i don't think i'm wiser than you.
personally i don't think you understand what wisdom is either. here's what i found on dictionary.com, at least:

wisdom: the ability to discern what is true, right, or lasting; insight.

that's what i was talking about.

that's an opinion, not a fact, and i don't believe it's true. wisdom is not knowledge or experience in any particular area, it's a quality of yourself as a person. if wisdom exists, a truly wise person will be wise in any situation, even a challenging one that they have no experience in.

that isn't what wisdom is. that's expertise.

what would be a wise statement? i didn't say i was wise. which things do you think i lack experience with?

whether something is a mistake or not is subjective. we don't all learn the same lessons in life. no one is further down the path than anyone else, because you only spend as much time on the path as you allow yourself to. the second you really choose to be "there", you will be, and how many points you earned along the way won't mean anything.

i think it's arrogant to say you can tell who is wise and who is not. that would mean that you know what is absolutely right and wrong. if you think you understand anything, you're not going to pay attention. is that really wisdom? i always associated wisdom first with humility.

    one more thing:

this all is infinite. so none of us can ever see or be aware of everything, or it would have to be finite. so, each of us is aware of a different infinity. infinity goes in all directions. the people who have never done lsd and sit at home watching sitcoms and eating doritos might never see everything you will see, but you will never see everything they will see either. and unless you can see all of it, how can you make a judgment about any of it?

I've never done acid, but I was thinking just the other day while, erm, on some herb, and I felt like acid must be so powerful because of time dilation. Even in my state of mind then, I realized how much I FEEL everything, all my senses are turned on and I can focus on minute sounds, how my body feels at all contact points, and mull over many thoughs very quickly. 5 minutes can be a lot of time whne just sitting there.

When on acid, those 5 minutes are way longer feeling, even. If, like Huxley compared our senses to a "reducing valve," we turned our senses all the way on and felt it all, would we not be stuck fixating so much time would seem to slow down? And now whne you're on acid, it's not just the fact you can feel the chair pressing into you, you can also hear the squirrel chittering a block away and then think lightning fast about it. That would make for a looooooooong experience of time. Is that what makes trips so intense? The opening up of all your senses and the time dilation that then must follow?

Then I snapped out of it and realized I was probably way off. And I got back to work.

prismatism - first off, if you want to define wisdom make sure that you take the time to list all the definitions. the dictionary is a good source but look what i found at dictionary.com
    ^^^ imagine that - i am right!

being aware and knowing the difference between right and wrong, truth and falsehood does not mean that you must understand everything.

actually a wise person knows that it is pointless to try to understand everything. that is not why you are here.

i know that murder is wrong and i don't need to know everything about reality and the universe to be absolutely certain about this. i know that it is wrong to lie, to steal, to cheat, to hurt someone, to do anything to another being that you would not like done to yourself is also obviously wrong. i do not need to understand the infinite structure of everything to know this.

when you are older and wiser you will better understand what i am talking about. this does not mean that i think i am any better a person than you are - i was once young to ya know. i was not as wise when i was your age. that is just the way it goes. resenting an older person for thinking that they know better than you about certain things will only hold you back. part of becoming wise is knowing who to listen to. people should be thankful to hear the words of someone who possess more wisdom. part of becoming wise is knowing true wisdom when you hear it and adopting a similar outlook. of course most of us have to learn on our own but it helps if you hear the words of the wise and remember them when you have a lesson to learn. otherwise you might have to learn the lesson over and over agian. sometimes we humans can be so dense (i am speaking about myself here as well)

example - a wise man once told me.... and it changed who i was... we hear this all the time.

i believe that a young person can be wise beyond their years even at the age of 10. i think this has something to do with past lives. none the less the same person will be much wiser by the time they reach 30. we all grow with experience and wisdom is one way to explain this.

i also know that it is wrong to sit on the couch watching tv all day eating doritos. this is just common sense. you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out.

just look at the way prismatism is effected by the fact that i consider myself wise beyond my years. being wise and knowing that you are wise is not as easy or wonderful as some people might think. in a way your roll becomes more important as your effect on others increases. also when you become strangely wise beyond your years thanx to LSD people will argue that you are crazy and/or arrogant just like prismatism is doing.

i wouldn't change a thing. i am just saying that people who do this to themselves should be prepared to get a lot of flak over it.

Maybe what's right, what's true, is constantly changing (along with the universe), and all you can do is feel your way around this place by what feels authentic, true, and divine for *you*. I don't think there is any nugget of wisdom or any single rule that works in every situation, for everyone person regardless of level of consciousness.

In the end I think the best advice is to keep as empty a head as possible, don't become too smug (realize that there's truth in everything, even the opponent in a debate), and realize that divinity lies within all others if you attune yourself to the right frequency.

As for what acid does to my specific mind (because I strongly suspect that it's different for each of us), I tend to think of it turning this planet into the contents of my subconscious, for my eyes only. All of my deepest fears and hidden insecurities are manifested in the forms of friends, objects, and strangers.

I don't think much about time passing when I'm on LSD, just doing my best to remain calm and unattached in the face of my demons, to reduce their power and strengthen my own.

ok sure, so in 10 years or so maybe murder will no longer be wrong.

maybe in 2020 we will all start to float as the laws of gravity start to change.

maybe stealing off of your friend will become a way of saying hey bud, i love you. i know i could have asked you if maybe i could borrow some and that i probably should have wondered if maybe you needed that money for something important but i figured because i love you so much that you would want me to have the money anyways....lol.. come on man, if you are a thief you are week. this will never change - it is a lesson. earn your own way. we all must work to survive.

so if stealing off of your friend feels authentic, true and divine for *you* then it is ok?

    no,

there are most definitely absolute truths in life. at one point or another we all learn the same lessons. some get stuck on a few and never change - that is not just ok because they have a right to be a certain personality or something. we should all be progressing though life. there is always more refinement to be done.

there are many things in life that don't really matter one way or the other. knowing the difference between what is important and what is trivial is wisdom.

being a good person is a journey. we measure our selves by our effects on others whether or not we are aware of it. we all learn lessons as we go along, and i am sorry to say that there is one divine truth, through which we are all connected. the light is and that’s it. what the light is for me is the same as it is for you - to see it otherwise would be very lonely. watch out with that train of thought. what is truth - truth is what really matters. what really matters to me is what really matters to you as well.(when i say what really matters i am not talking about what we might think really matters i am talking about the divine truth that we all seek whether or not we are aware) everything else is entertainment. lately i have refined myself in a way that i understand how only a few things in life really matter, everything else is there for entertainment and reflection or a metaphoric presentation of the truth for me to absorb like a sponge.

The affects of LSD on the brain are not 100% documented, but there are a few things we know. You guys can have your very enticing mystical explanations for what happens, because there are things we haven't been able to research yet. The biggest reason for us not knowing entirely what LSD does to you brain is that we don't completely understand the brain.

    Anyway, we know:

-We have neurons/nerve cells (obviously extremely small). When a single or more of these nerve cells is stimulated past a certain point, it starts sending out neurotransmitters to inform the next neuron, to send transmitters to the next neuron, and so on all the way up to the brain. This can take milliseconds, or full seconds depending on what the stimulus is, and what kind of neuron pathways are being used.

-LSD's chemical structure has a shape very much like that of the neurotransmitter Serotonin (the 'happy' transmitter). So when it's absorbed, it travels from neuron to neuron, fitting into the Serotonin receptors and passing through the neurons as they open up to recieve chemical traffic.

-When LSD reaches the brain, it acts as a synthetic serotonin and fools your mind into believing it's getting Serotinin. Obviously, it's not. So all of the Serotonin receptors in your brain get exposed to LSD and you trip :)

LSD leaves the brain within hours of it being absorbed, so all of the lasting affects have yet to be explained... mostly because it's really, really hard to scientifically test this kind of thing.

    -----

I've heard one guy's theory on what LSD really 'does' to your brain, and it makes sense:

-The happy feeling comes from acid's chemical structure; it acts as a very effective synthetic Serotonin.

-Synapses in memory neurons 'detach and reattach', in a way, so while you do have long term/short term memory for the most part (on low-med doses), the feeling of 'wonder' is caused by forgetting the world, and re-learning it, much like a child. This also is what causes high creativity in most people, as your memory neuron pathways are being rearranged, so you can 'mold' your sense of 'knowing' and 'understanding'.

-All brain 'sense' neurons fire off LSD into receptors, confusing all parts of the brain, and subjecting them to your subconscious and imagination. This accounts for the (sometimes) funny "buzzy" feeling of touch, the extreme visuals, weird audio perception, distorted time perception, confused/detached sense of taste, etc.

I can pick the wisest person out in room in an instant and I do know what is absolutely right and wrong. This isn't because I don't pay attention and am full of myself, just sitting in my own world of thinking "I understand it all". Instead, this is because I am constantly, almost painfully at times hyper-sensitive and hyper-aware and this knowledge is present in every molecule of every second.

"LSD leaves the brain within hours of it being absorbed, so all of the lasting affects have yet to be explained... mostly because it's really, really hard to scientifically test this kind of thing." Where did you find this piece of information? I typically bring this up at times, but completely forgot the source, do you know where its from?

Another interesting thing to add to that is in this documentary on LSD I was watching from the 60's. They actually had a brain under microscope that was just coming under the effect of LSD and it shows the neurons pulling apart. Literally unwiring themselves. Which is why Leary got so big on the 'brain reprogramming' thing, because that is quite literally what LSD lets you do. Not in a metaphorical sense, but in a literal physiological sense. The neurons and synapses pull apart, it all retracts. Your brain is unwired. The chemical is then out of your brain in a couple hours. The whole rest of the trip is actually just your synapses reconnecting. That is what the trip is.

I honestly don't think any of the effect of LSD comes from the chemical LSD, if any it's negligable. LSD seems to just be the chemical messenger that goes into the brain and hits the reset button. But the actual effects and experience of LSD is a product of synapses unwiring. To me this is why flashbacks even exist. Because it's not a chemical interacting with your neurons. It's just a deeper level of synaptic activity. And that deeper level is always there.

and IMO Leary did figure out what exactly LSD is and what it does. Read this book http://www.noveltynet.org/content/books/neurologic/
In short 'conciousness' is not your brain. Conciousness is just a single particle of illumination. One that can inhabit the synapses of your brain and make 'you' and 'your body'. Or it can move down through many cellular levels of your being so you can experience 'reality' as if you were a molecule, atom, elementary particle, or any composition of these things in nature like animals, plants etc. It's just that, with that the effect of LSD isn't so much any one 'thing', its rather has the potential to be everything in effect. Although, that applies to all psychedellics not just LSD. Although LSD in my opinion does seem to have some certain qualities to it which make it very unique, I'm still expirimenting with it though.

there is a difference between something being true, and something being right.
what is true is only the highest probability.
what is right is only an opinion.
the truth can't have an opinion, or support anyone else's.
something being "right" means (in the way i am using the word) that it is what *should* be done, meaning that there are other options. to do what is "right" means that there has to be the option of doing what is "wrong". if no one has ever done something wrong before, then doing it right isn't even a question. so the second you decide something is right, you're deciding that you know more than someone else.

for everything that you feel for certain is absolutely right or wrong, there is someone else who believes just as strongly in the opposite. and i'm sure if you try hard enough, even you can think of a situation in which each wrong would be right and each right wrong.
i'm sure that you do things which someone else would think are just as bad as you think the things someone else is doing are.
so what makes you different from every other person in the world? your percieved wisdom?

"common sense" changes depending on where you physically are in the world. i don't think i need to explain that. i think it's something you can observe for yourself. what's okay at a concert might not be okay in school. even simple, obvious things like that.

what i am saying is that you have come to believe the things you believe through your experiences. i'm not saying you have become wise (or that you haven't) as a result of your experience, just that you believe what you do because of the things that have happened in your life. so, unless you can experience everything that every person you come into contact with has experienced throughout the entire course of their lives, you cannot know how they came to believe the things that they do. you cannot know *why* their system of right and wrong is the way it is. i just don't see what decides the difference in validity between one person's opinion and another's. if you can't both be right, which one is to say who's wrong?

if you honestly think that the older you are, the wiser you become, you should spend a lot more time around children.

Wow, this made me feel so strange, It was like reading myself. Awhile back, I was talking to my roommate's boyfriend and I was saying to him, basically the same thing. He didnt listen and said I was "wrong", I just smiled and said ok, he too thinks he knows what's absolutely right and wrong and this didnt even allow him, to actually listen to what I was saying.
I'm still weirded out by the quoted text above, butin a really good way :D

i was just about to type up something about how muslims in the middle east believe murder is right if its in the name of allah, whereas most countries consider it murder. but that still begs the question, who is right?

When the dragon is hidden you dont talk. When the dragon is soaring in heaven you feel wisdom shines through. But the dragon soars too high and a fight always breaks out.
Humillity is the most important lesson for all of us to go through. The right and wrong applies to when to act, or not act. Beyond that is Creative and Receptive and they both complement each other, including right and wrong which apply to both ends of the universal spectrum. Wisdom is only measured by searching to the depths of one's own ignorance.
