I live in a town in southern California called Calabasas, and about a year ago a law was passed that prohibits people from smoking outdoors in calabasas. This is the only city in the US with a law like this and i fully believe that it's unconstitutional. I want to start a petition to overturn this law but I don't have a clue where to start. I know i have to make a petition but I don't know how to make it a legal document. I also wouldn't even know where to take the petition after i got the signatures and testimonies. Would you guys please point me in the right direction ?
Your town is probably just full of fundamental environmentalist Ralph Nader voters So, there isn't really much you can do.
Yeah the government burned the constitution a long time ago i cant even remember when we had freedoms.
I actaully did an enterview for my dumbass boss with..wabt..abc news in jackson, miussissippi.. Nothin big I just tend bar in jackson ,and our neighboring county just passed a new city ordenance that prohibts smoking in public.. they ask me a bunch of question like the effect on businesses and what people think of it In all honesty we breathin more toxic fumes walkin outdoors. The same government telling us its bad for us to smoke cigarrets and pot and..etc.... There causing way more damage to our people and our world with there war technolegy like chemical war fair and nuecliar energy ..OIL!!!!! Taking one more minute pleasure people who are dieng anyway is just one more way to control our peoples moral. And desract us from the real problems our people as humans in a whole face..
My campus banned all tobacco products, starting this year. Whatever, I don't think it's right but I also quit smoking then as well. So in a way, it has helped me but that doesn't mean that other people's rights should be stepped on. I just realize that it's impossible for the university to enforce this policy- what are they going to do, hire smoking police? Peace and love
ya, but NO SMOKING!?!?! there has got to be enough people in this city (even if it is full of nader-voting fundamentalist pussies) that want this law to be overturned. I surely can't be the only one that thinks it is total bullshit because I don't even smoke myself. I just don't like living in a town that shits on your personal freedoms for the sake of the "environment". I mean really, they passed this law on the premis that it would help the air in calabasas. Why don't they also make a law that says if you own one of those grossly oversized gas guzzling SUVs that all you love so much you have to trade it in for a prius. It's disguisting how this law was passed on such a transparent premise and NOONE has has ANYTHING. I don't know if i will succeed in overturning this law but I will atleast be heard.
There narrowing iut down to businesses puting up know smoking sighns to inforse it,and people smoking in there cars with kids... Wich there still trying to push the last one.. Im a smoker but I dont smoke around my kids.. Thats falls more under parental responsiblity than a law.. But anyway.. They arent passing it as one big law.. There passing a bunch of little ones.. Slowy talking people into giveing those rights up.. If they were to come right out and say we wanna pass a law that says you can smoke any where but at home and in your own car...But wait unless you have kids then I guess thats limited to your back yard.. No one would vote for that. They start small.
Yeah I know thats crazy but I realyy want peoples opinions.. I started a blog.. Its called Show Americas Balls.. lol I think its got a nice little ring to it.. www.shutshitt.blogspot.com Weather you agree with me or diagree.. Please tell me your thought bring up your own subject you think is important. I just started it theres not much on it yet and its my first one..But I want to see where this goes and how many ordinary people really are concerned about our issues.. Thank You..
In Davis Ca, for several years it has been illegal to stand on the street and smoke tobacco. If you are walking, its legal. Its one of those dumb laws that a city passes and everyone disobeys.
Should they not just make cigarettes illegal? I mean in Canada we have free health care, should I really have to play for some dumb asses black lungs cause he decided to smoke? Or should smokers just be voided from our free health care system?
They outlawed it outdoors here in the Albuquerque but it is sort of a toothless tiger. It's not enforced. If it was that would remind me of communist China.
Here in Ontario, smoking inside public places has been banned for a few years now. Last I heard they want to ban smoking a certain distance from entrances to stores/malls! I'm just sick and tired of people constantly smoking around bike racks in this city. Nearly every time I go to unlock my bike, some jackass is puffing away on her cigarette.
