yeah, im still 100% on the truth, which most of you know my oppinion on. i used to argue and provide videos proving religion is man made thing, it is in no divine or spiritual, just hope of something after death and that a god loves you. well, this belief doesnt work for me or many others, but theres alot more it does work for. people with very little in theyre lives, people with few goals and few beliefs rely on faith to get through, it makes life simpler and happier knowing that theyre going to heaven and being watched out for, sometimes faith and hope can make a person happier then the truth, and i finally respect and understand that. its all a matter of character and oppinion, i can get by alone, some cant. i finally get it < the ultimate truth, people live for themselves not others (well apart from maybe loved ones)someones oppinion dont mean shit, if blind following makes a person happy and a great guy just in general, than thats awesome < the power of faith lets some ppl have a new start, and love theyre life and love others, without religion, this world would be a shit hole. thank you for the time to read this, i am no longer disrespecting religious people, quete the opposite. however im still atheist and refuse to believe. goodnight
I think anyone who follows a formed religion is ignorant....that just my opinion but i think alot of people, especially politicians, and the goverment use religion as a form of mind and population control....
I agree with you greenie, and have felt that way for awhile myself. I've always been an atheist.. never believed, even when I was a little girl. But I do understand how it is essential for some people. While some may be pure ignorant, some truly use religion and god as a way of life, and I can respect that. I certainly don't need it and never will, but a lot of this world relys on it, and it really helps some people get through some very difficult times in their lives. Glad another human can see the light.
While jehovas witnesses and mormons do try to push religion on us, they can be easily avoided. I used to live in a town that got more of those door to door religion people than I do now. And whenever they'd come to the door, and catch me I'd just try to throw everything they said back in their face. I'd turn it around, and then I wouldn't give them a chance to talk. I'd just tell them to go away and not come back and shut the door in their face. My dad HATES it when they come to his house now. They've only made that mistake twice, and both times he's told them to get the hell off his property before his dog (which is the sweetest creature on earth) comes out, or he'll tell them he'll call the cops if they don't leave now. He has absolutely no patience for these people, or any people who try to solicit you. sp So anyway, just tell them to fuck off, and they won't bother you anymore. I feel the same about them, as I do about military recruiters. I just ignore them all.
It's not hard to read if you have eyes. I entirely agree with you Green, I don't disrespect others for their religious beliefs, but they also don't work for me. Only time I disrespect others beliefs is if they disrespect my nonbelief.
A line needs to be drawn between religious ideals and religious organizations. The fundamental ideas behind most of the major world religions are good, it's hard to argue that with reason whether you believe in God or not. The problem lies in who is running these institutions; people are always greedy, they always have been, and always will be. I'll start going to (Catholic) church again when I have children. It does instill good morals and habits into a person, absolutely. If my kids are as smart as their father, grandfather, and great grandfather, they'll see through all the bullshit that goes with religion, and take with them all the positive elements.
This is probably going to become the next religion thread! lol and everyone is going to state their beliefs, and why they feel that way and bla bla bla. Just wanted to point out the obvious.
I like your post. I was an atheist for most of my life but am no longer. There are far more options than accepting fundamentalist Christianity or science. It is the religious whackos who tend to make an impression, either in the news or by cornering you in an elevator. There are believers who accept science, mind their own business, and never hurt anyone, but who notices that?! :^) I kind of believe in a separation of church and God (Goddess?). And belief can help people survive hardcore stuff in this life, too.
its emilie autumn, she is a classically trained violinist, her music is an awesome mix of violin, industrial, and add some harpsichord, and a beautiful voice.
I dont think god exists i used to when i was like 12 and 13 but then i realized most religions have no facts and the majority of things they said has been proofed as false(the sun revolves around the earth and other stuff) you get where im going.
