Ok, so I have a normal stratocastor that I really want to paint. My painting skills aren't that bad, however Im confused about what paint to actually use. The body has this glossy texture, Im *guessing* painting over it with generic art store paint is a bad idea as it will likely peel as soon as it drys. Anyone have suggestions, experiences, tips?

the original paint gets removed which is lot of work . maybe just carve or burn some design on it , like tattoo-ing , like branding a cow , like scrim-shaw . that's what i did and lucky it didn't get ugly...i went at it slow and careful and took a chance . it was bloody .

you could paint on it with acrylic paint and then clearcoat it so it won't come off

werd. It might still be prone to chipping if you don't clearcoat the whole thing.

Not necessarily. To do it "properly" yes it would be a good idea.
