On my last lsd trip (5 hits) I had an alien experience…it was all end of the world stuff. Anyway it also happened that a buddy of mine was coming to see me the next day. During my trip the alien told me that my buddy was bringing me news of the apocalypse and that I should believe him. Sure enough my buddy arrived the next day with a binder full of ice core sample and maps and a whole lotta stuff that went over my head—but according to him a major earth change is about to happen and he went to the Hopi Indians in Arizona (bear clan) to confirm his findings & they think its going to happen in 2012.
Tonight I’m messing around on google video & I come across a link where mckenna predicts “a shift” that is ‘apocalyptic’ on Dec 21, 2012. trippy eh?
    Here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-prt5d6m6s
    I also found this link…

    Terence McKenna - Psychedelic Society

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

its him talking about a psychedelic society that could save us from having to experience an ‘apocalypse’-if he’s right that means that we have 4 years to elevate the consciousness of humanity.
My questions are: do you believe in these natural disasters that are being predicted? These apocalypse type things?
Do you think a mass “turning on’ could stop it?
For those of you that have watched these clips, what do you think of his theories?
    Could psychedelics save the species?

the apocolypse is in progress or the mass 'turning on' ...or both?

well a mass turning on would be an apocalypse because every 'thing' of the prior world would dissapear, the link is purely associative
However I don't know how much I believe in the natural disaster thing. Any apocalyptic activity in 2012 I think is going to be highly psychological.

the thing that I still ponder everyday is what role will technology play in the process

You mean his suggestion that we find time travel in 2012?
That proposition was more how he figured we could maintain a rational universe with 'time' ending. But he himself doesn't really so much believe in a rational universe. The 'time travel' technology will most likely be something only in the brain. Along the lines of the coming of the multi-dimensional consciousness.

I watched the 45 minute video link and enjoyed it. I think Mr. McKenna is a great speaker. I thought his characterization of hardware as masculine and software as feminine was an interesting thought.

I think the spirit of his 45 minute speech is summed up nicely in this Dead Milkmen song: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=_uEBd1Ud4ak 'The Secret of Life'.

I really don't believe in any apocalyptic prophecies though, as McKenna said, we need to abandon our beliefs. I do, however, believe in science , and I thought McKenna was a little bold in his attempt to 'destroy science' as he said by stating that what happens in laboratories doesn't relate to the rest of the world/ universe.

It's important to remember that flawed theories often provide the next step to solving problems. For example, Sigmund Freud was the father of psychotherapy, but many of his theories are laughed at today (though always taught in pyschology courses.) Einstein made some helpful mistakes as well, I believe.

See I thought you were only using lsd and other psycidelics to party and not explore this type of altered scene. While Ill admit Im shot out. What your discribing is perfectly
possable/ Time travell and Quantum Leaps/ If you already experienced it then you need not ask, So while I compared LSD as to looking thru warped glass. I am only doing that to myself to rationalize it. Or talking myself down as to stay in touch with this world/
You must stay in tune with the here and now.
Truth is to the here and now and understanding how atoms and the biology of humans works and how cellular membraines in neurons are active with this and that.
What causes these Feelings and emotions and Us in this time of the World of constant change/ challenges its you who ask a constant> Just why is it? and instead of just BEING. You cant just BE anymore. And that is all you really ask yourself is why cant i just BE> and the 60's was of a message just to Exist.

"Know Thyself and you will know all the mysteries of the universe"

Our conscience has caught up with science/ What do i mean by that:
You are conscience that they are doing stem cell research in the real world.
You believe in everlasting life> only cause for the sake of argument you do.
What could be done is use stem cells to repair your body so you could in a sence live forever> Only figuring out the time line of current work with stem cells could it not really be done if not now but by the year 2012?

Would you not think that the Creator of all things already had a plan to prevent this/
I would and do believe this is possable but Just because the physical or real body can keep on being dont mean that will be a spiritual person and I would think the Creator would not want non spiritual beings living forever. At least not of our species!!!

I know I wouldnt want to live forever in that way without being spiritual.

The Creator knows his true children and with a ever expanding universe "OUR" conscience has expanded with it while at least some>
When you come to know how far we've come in that last 100 years. How much data you yourself has collected. You create your own Heaven and the Creator of all can see how pure and true they are within you.

To be honest I cant watch the clips, at least not at this time. But I am somewhat familiar with Mckenna and the two distinct ancient cultures which came up with this date as something worth being noted for.
However I cant take it very seriously because the sort of change that is being interpreted as positive or negative are very nearsighted and apply directly to our current civilization as it is right now. Those who are going off the mayan vision are basing the interpretation that on this date, the demons of Hell will be unleashed out from the 'center' of the universe to wreak havoc upon existance. Those who are basing the theories under the Hindu calander are using a positive shift into a more golden age, or simply the second Yuga, whichever history you believe in order to mark our spot on the calander now.
A massive shift in human consciousness is not something new, it has happened at least 4 times in a way that stood out so clearly that they were given names of ages, such as bronze and golden. We had the Christian Crusades, we had the birth of Islam, we had the Holocaust, we even had a time period when people like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Vivaldi, etc. lived, all condensed to a few hundred years.
These steps in human evolution come and go, they rise, reach a peak, and fall right back to the beginning where confusion and lathargy reign supreme. Just like watching a year go by, the seasons of summer with chi flowing through the clouds, and winter, with chi hidden under the Earth. The same with a day, the Sun reveals all during the day and the Moon brings a time of rest and self relfection during the Night. Same with an LSD trip with it's come up, it's peak, and it's aftermath. Everything in life goes up and down, with the good come the bad and vice versa. 2012 marking a shift in human consciousness, in my eyes, will not be so dizzyingly immediate that we would notice it on a worldwide scale. Like Rygoody said this is already in motion, it has been in motion since the moment the water on the Earth boiled like a stale soup under the heat of the Sun and consciousness distributed itself amongst seperate bodily hosts. And it will continue until this universe is eaten up by itself, and will continue when it is reborn. Consciousness will never die until God commands it to, it is directly linked with God's cosmic vibrational thought pattern, and it alone survives without any need for sustainment other than God's will, because it is God's will.
To say 2012 will bring a sort of end to human suffering, illusion, ignorance, distrust, war, etc. is very nearsighted because it will ALWAYS come right back. And how many times has this happened before? How many times through your previous incarnations, if you understand life to work in this manner, have you lived through these yugas? And how many universe have you been carried over from without completing your dharma? It's all circular, thought in form is a circle, planets are circles, habits and shifts are circles, revolutions are circles, universes are circles. Until thought is transcended the mind will continue going around in circles, even if we were to scientifically prove how the most basic core mechanics of an atom work, what would happen? Wed come right back to the result of atoms, because we can not prove with material means that which is not material in substance. Transcend this circular process and you will break the cycle, liberating your mind from such limitations. Even if 2012 brought about massive change, it would most definitley not be peaceful. Human beings have proven time and time again that we can not handle such radical change together, harmoniously, without attempting to destroy ourselves. What would become of peoples precious free will if this were the case? Change comes from within. Those who think Christ is coming back dont seem to understand that Christ IS coming back because he did not complete His dharma by liberating many souls, we have become confused. But He can only come back when we are ready to receive Him, and only God know's this date, being that He programmed it

Yes I really like what that Tsarion says, it's actually been my suspicion for a while it will entail something like that because when I run into someone with a disease of some sort, I always wonder, have they tried any form of meditation or energy healing?

Also, if your wanting 2012 videos I found this one particularly interesting
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glaasI73nPY there are 5 parts
I don't know how much relevance the metaphors from his path will ring true in the grand scheme of things and he is very fringe as he says himself. But his specific background allowed him to express a really interesting viewpoint on what exactly 2012 will be and it's a viewpoint that I actually strongly suspected to be the case for a while now. It just seems to be perfect to be true. Sort of like, everyone has an extreme nervous breakdown, at least thats what it would seem from the western psychology reality tunnel, that is potentially caused by disastrous events as we near 2012. When really everyone is just getting pulled into, in a Hindu sense, a higher state of consciousness, a level of samadhi, (what ZTR seems to me to be) temporarily to have a little bit of one on one time with God, sort like you know what happens if you get into that frame of mind of psychedelics. I really like this notion because then 2012 is no longer some 'thing' going on out there, but it's each person own individual thing and 2012 will have as many differences as there are people. You know thats exactly what the 'psychological shift' viewpoint of 2012 will be.

The other thing I really like about this viewpoint is that if 2012 does require great catastrophes, great disasters and the goal is to get everyone into this state where they all just break down and revisit some state of samadhi. Inherently that is for some people and to some degree going to demolish the media's hold on people. And television already can send people into an extreme state of panic with hardly any real reason. So we're not going to need a nuclear war or something to physically come into everyones neighborhood, were not going to need a hurricane or flood to rip through every city. All that you need is enough catastrophe somewhere else, enough peculiarity and confusion broadcast on television and radio to make everyone just go into shock for a day or so until they come to terms with it.

the apocalypse has been predicted all throughout history and were all still here. anybody who believes that they can predict the future better than you or I can is wasting their time.

the first step to gaining a drop of intelligence is admitting to "knowing" absolutely nothing.

im not totally against the idea of a consciousness shift, but why would it happen to occur on the trendy date that consists of the number 2 0 1 and 2? the universe has been around for billions of years, and humans have been around, but all those numbers tell us is how long we've been keeping track. does it just happen to occur on that date by coincidence, or do people just say that because of the unique digits??

I think that some people have experienced such exciting things on psychedelics that they imagine themselves to be a special part of the universe and can even concieve of their own idea of how all of the different levels from the micro to the macro fit together.

Where this breaks down is that some people arrogantly take this a step further and assume that they are a significant part of the universe and that something special and great will happen during their lifetimes and that they can play some part in it. It is easy to see that some people who post on this website have a messianic complex and to one degree or another often gain followers in their quest to define and save the universe.

On the one hand, sure, special things happen all the time, there was that comet about a decade ago and there are earthquakes and meteor showers. On the other hand what are the chances that something will happen on the scale of that described by the 2012 conspiracy theorists? It is a reflection of their arrogance to assume this will happen in their lifetimes.

    Any thoughts on my theory?

for me, I am not dead set on 12-21-2012
Its just that I notice the rate at things are changing and I notice that it could easily reach a critical point on that date, so it seems plausible to me
But I still hold my reservations and curiosities "will that date actually be it"?
    I dunno. For sure
But I do think there is a huge change thats gonna happen in my lifetime.

the messianic complex I think is the product of nothing more than recognizing things are quite fucked and the only life worth living is one that is working towards greatly improving everything
Yes thats a 'complex' in the sense that its a complicated history of potential past failures, frustrating interactions with society, distaste to the ways many people run their lifes. But I have to say its completely justified. I mean you can run off the rationality 'messianic complex' 'mental disorder by its very nature'. But really the only thing needed to turn this 'complex' into a real manifestation is the number of people who have had enough infuriating experiences with the way things currently are to truly and genuinely aim their life towards improving an aspect of society. And it seems to me more and more people are getting annoyed with society, government, current institution and that it is nearing a breaking point

In America, it's an election year this year and also in 2012. It's likely that a Democrat will be elected this year to calm the frustrated masses in America, making anarchy in the USA unlikely. Democrats tend to be a little more friendly when it comes to foreign policy, making world war unlikely.

Europe will follow the lead of the USA, whether it is in peace or war. The middle East will generally be at peace with the West as long as we buy their oil and sell them guns (the guns seem to make them happy and limit their battles to relatively minor regional conflicts.)

Meanwhile, over here in my neighborhood, Asian countries are strengthening their government and social institutions and making progress on international relations and such important things as the environment, sustainable growth (in the more developed asian countries at least) and at least making an effort to calibrate their perceptions of history.

Africa's too poor to cause problems, and South America is leaning frustratingly left in the opinion of Conservative Americans, but remember Conservative Americans will be a less powerful demographic under a Democratic Legislative and Executive branch.

The stars won't align to reign terror on us in our lifetimes, it's statistically nearly impossible.

"messianic complex"... interesting observation. I don't know that I would go so far as to refer it to "messianic" but I do think there is a thread of truth there. I would ammend that to say that there are certainly some frequent posters who have more of a "guru complex". One could also argue that LSD has become a religion in itself here. We all have our own pulpit as we preach to the choir of conciousness.

LSD taught me that... it's just LSD. Purity and simplicity at it's finest. Over analyzing and prophetizing it only starts dilluting it's true beauty.

I am also completely open to the idea that any transition will go completely smooth and that were doing it right now and 2012 will just mark the point when this smooth transition is done. I actually made a thread about this 'violence and 2012' its somewhere in the LSD section. But there is also a whole school of thought that puts forth a good rationality that there must be some catastrophic event.

I mean.... Imagine if McCain gets elected. Its highly possible.
