Best western? hmmm that's a crappy little hotel. I don;t like them. Nor do I like western movies. thats my 4 cents
a man called horse. that picture of human cows reminds there was one with marilon monroe in it about wild horses too. i forget the name of it. the few i've seen that i thought were any good i don't remember the names of. halliluiyah trail, about booze smugglers in moron country or something like that, yah that was pretty good. botch casually and somedunce was mostly ok, though i think those kinds of endings generally suck, and it was mostly over rated but it did have a few moments. and i've heard there was a movie based on the artimous gordon/adam west chariters, i.e. wild wild west, who were i think something like pinkerton agents or g-men or something, kind of james bond meets old west, in their private railroad car. i actally didn't get to see that one, but from what i've heard, well it was the only "western" series on the tube i though much of, other then the totally fictional treatment that was given to bat masterson that i thought was kind of cool, whatever kind of jerk he might actually have been in real life. =^^= .../\... (i haven't the slightest idea who any of the actors in any of them might have been though. last thing in hell i pay attention to. i think that sort of thing detracts more from the story telling then adds anything to it. nothing against the acting proffession, i just don't see any point in it for me of remembering any of their names) =^^= .../\...
For me, today, 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' is the greatest. However I bought 'Once Upon a Time in the West' yesterday and I do have high hopes for it. The Unforgiven - amazingly powerful, Anthony Mann-James Stewart - so gripping and a few John Wayne's were pretty good - Red River, the Liberty Valance one and the Shootist.
I'm not into most westerns because of the unfair treatment of Native Americans. The best (most accurate) western I've ever seen is a 6 part mini-series called "Into the West". It won some awards and is available on dvd. It was also presented on TNT for 6 weeks straight!
I saw that one as well, the story about the family was ok but sometimes a bit too coincidal. I prefer Dances with wolves for that matter anyday.
Only one of the best gunfight scenes EVER!!!! Great movie...love it! And Into The West is pretty good as well....Dances with wolves also for the native american ( Lakota in both?, I think) consideration
I love me some clint, but 'My name is Trinity' is my all time fav, this movie so turned me on to beans and bread  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrQ3L6Pt4lM&feature=related Dig the trailer... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDFGxjDRwvc&feature=related
I cant say I know enough westerns to pick the best, but Ive recently seen Hang'Em High (Eastwood is so badass) and the original 3:10 To Yuma (very good). I've become somewhat infatuated with westerns lately so Ill be checking some more out soon.
Please--somebody rent "my darling clemintine" and see what a great old black and white this one is.Do it.Do it now.
Anybody saw the new 3:10 to Yuma already? With Russle Crow. Excellent western! Felt like a classic one
My fav, and I am happy at least a few have mentioned it, is Once Upon a Time in the West with Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, Jason Robards, etc. Henry Fonda as a bad guy is something you dont see, except in this movie, and he plays the part very well. One other fav western I have is Silverado, one of the better relatively newer westerns.
YES. Terence Hill as Trinity and Bud Spencer as his brother Bambino. I have the trilogy on dvd, Trinity is my Name, Trinity is Still my Name, and My Name is Nobody. Always good for some laughs.
