they are having a tasting of Duvel brand beers four beers will be sampled Duvel Houblon Chouffe Dobbelen IPA Tripel Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence Ommegang Three Philosophers so sad i can't make it
definately had duvel. one beer is a quick jumpstart to a buzz. not sure about the others but have had chocolate beers. when i was a bartender, i spelled it "bear" and then argued with patrons that i was right and they were wrong when they told me i misspelled it. also, for the beers we were promoting on the specials board read "specale's"
When it comes to beer, I don't care what it tastes like just as long as I get a nice buzz. *laughs* Although really skunky beer is kind of hard to tolerate I must admit. For instance, Molson Ice. Sometimes you can get it and it tastes good, other times, it's almost unbearable due to the skunk factor.
it really depends on how many people show up and how much supply the vendor has with him. you're really not supposed to get drunk - i've gotten a nice buzzed feeling from a few and then proceeded to buy the product i just tasted. i did volunteer at a beerfest where you can drink as much as you want. but thre real enthusiasts don't (IME) go to get really drunk. They go for the good beer, and the good conversations with the brewers and other folks attending.
I had a delicious beer the other day. Not anything like traditional beer, but it was mighty tasty. Lindemans Framboise (raspberry beer). Very expensive, but I really liked it.
i love it when i go into the liquor store to buy my booze and to find free samples it's like the best thing ever when i'm sad or blue all i need to do is go and buy some booze hooray
What is this Ommegang beer? I tried some Yuengling Black & Tan a month ago when I was waiting for a train in Buffalo. Is it like that?
Ommegang is made in Cooperstown, NY. It's way better than Yuengling, and nothing like any of their beers. Ommegang specializes in Belgian-style ales. Their saison, Hennepin, is considered by many beer connaisseurs to be the best saison out there. I was able to take a tour of Brewery Ommegang last fall, which rests in a beautiful farm-like setting on the banks of the Susquehanna River.
Is that the same susquehanna river that I live by? (dumb ques. maybe...) anyways ive never had ommegang but i dont like yuenglings black n tans at all...although black n tans in general can be good.
Yeah, same river. It flows from south to north and cuts through PA and southeast NY. Yeah, the only Yuengling I like is the lager. It's by no means a favorite of mine, but it is one of the best mass-produced American lagers for the price.
Cooperstown, eh? That's where the National Baseball Hall of Fame is. I will go there someday and try an Ommegang. I'm not sure if we have Ommegang here.
