I dont have dreads right now, I did before though, some of you on here might remember that haha.......

    And from this i learned:
-you cant see the back of your own head i dont care how many mirrors you use!
-wax is not your friend not even a little bit!
-you really do need a fine toothed comb, like so you cant see the space between the teeth
-seperate all the hair first and see if your happy like that, because if you just go ahead and dread your going to be pissed you did!

ANYWAYS that got derailed before it began.

So I cant get my hands on any organic soaps or Bronners so Im wondering and im sure a few other people are too, what should I use? Generic brand wise, whats the best? Whats the worst? What should we aim for?

Any basic shampoo would work just fine. Just avoid extra-moisturizing formulas and silicones (which can build up). I believe Neutrogena makes a decent anti-residue shampoo with only a handful of ingredients.

Sweet deal thanks lace ;) ill probably start testing them out now while my hair isnt dreaded, and ive found that anything that leaves a smell leaves a residue.

Ive also learned that if you switch shampoos every 2 weeks or so it will destroy the residue from the previous one and start building up its own, so its a good idea to rotate.

me and my man use soap... any health food store brand works for us... Kiss my face patchouli soap, Lush store sells some pretty intense soaps that leave no residue but they are on the pricy side to me... just make sure you wash it out really good! :)
    Good luck!

dont use cheap crappy shampoo, its nothing but chemicals that are really bad for your hair.
you can use pears transparent soap, they have it in most drug stores. ive used it a few times and was quite happy with it, smells nice too.
right now im using "bee and flower" soap. you might be able to find it in chinese stores. its good and natural and comes in wonderful scents, i have sandalwood.
    good luck! :)

So far I've been using a Lush shampoo bar, which seems to work nicely... They are a bit on the pricey side, but they last for ages; you only need to use a tiny bit (the way I do it is get my hair wet, then rub the bar round 3 times, which barely seems to make a dent in the bar).

I use Lush bar soaps, either 'Squeaky Green' or 'Seanick'. Both are natural, lather up nicely... plus I get a discount as I know everyone who works at Lush [IMG]

I like the Seanik one.. I tried 'Jumping Juniper' first, which worked okay, but the seanik one with the lemon and sea salt seemed to work more as a 'locking accellerator' kinda thing. Unfortunately my seanik bar went missing when my housemate cleaned the bathroom (grrr) so I'm back with the juniper one for now... I'll have to give the squeaky green a try too sometime.
