If they were white it would be entirely different. Our different physical appearance and different customs on some subconscious level allows for more apathy. Even if you say you're not a racist and have never done a racist thing in your life you are conditioned from birth to identify with those like you. Edit: ultimately it is greed we are bombing for though. i agree
do you know how many nonwhites serve in the military? do you think those naive and broke bastards care who they're bombing so long as they don't get killed? they don't care, they're scared, exhausted, regretful, terrified and just want to come home. they're goin to be suffering PTSD, disorientation, repressed rage, everything. all because they either had no choice monetarily but to join, were stupid enough to buy that "fight for your country's freedoms" bs, or just thought for some reason it would make them a man, or did it because everyone else in their family before them did it. THEY WERE KIDS when they joined. i know, i'm the only sibling in my family of age that hasn't served. and all the pompous pricks over here who are blaming them for being naive enough to believe in their government should be smacked. blame the administration and help these poor bastards find their way back to society. it's hard enough what they went through. don't add to it.
well at the end of they the ones that get back didnt get their heads blown off and their house turned to rubble to by an American grenade attack. If I murdered someone Id be looking at 20 to life . What do they get?A pay cheque from taxpayers and an arm round them.... Hmm cant say I have a lot of sympathy for them.
the kids at columbine were scared youths who murdered innocent people. America's hearts really went out to them.
pfft. i wouldn't expect you do. that personal pedestal is a hard thing to step down from. people whove been brainwashed all their lives, conditioned, trained, without resources, or skills. yeah, i see a COMPLETE difference between murder and war. at least for those grunts running around with their heads up their asses being whipped up into a froth by people they've been trained to believe in, for one reason or another. and SERIOUSLY, comparing them to columbine? simplistic arguments do NOTHING for your stance. it's pap. MY HEART went out to those stupid fuckers who shot the place up. they were crazy. i feel sorry for crazy people. i think there's some "there but for the grace of whatever go i."
Vandalize something that is Uncle Sams and leave your fellow Americans alone in my opinion! If I saw some kid fuckin with my car id hit em with a bat.... Damn now that wasn't very nice of me.... *shrugs* ohm shante shante shante..........
Just as people have the right to express the fact they hate the war. The people who don't oppose the war, or just support the troops have the right to express their beliefs. Leave them alone man. Let them be. Express your opposition in more productive ways for fucks sake!:spliff:
I do agree that we should "support our troops" although frankly Im getting a little tired of hearing that catch phrase being used to call out others as traitors or less than patriotic. I also do agree that vandalizing private property is wrong and of course does not accomplish anything. But I wouldnt be so quick to say that the officials who brought us into this war were "elected." Also, Im not quite following your logic here...We should be 100% behind the troops, not because we agree with what they're doing, but simply because they are willing to risk their lives. Also, I wouldn't be so quick to say that none of us here would be willing to give our lives for our country...I certainly will not join the military because I know I would not be risking my life for my country, but rather risking it for the benefit of oil tycoons and war profiteers. And I certainly don't agree with that. And I dont feel that we need to stand behind 100% with those who do. As far as genocide is concerned, I dont think language is quite accurate. But certainly, many innocent civilians, old men, women, and children have been killed by American soldiers. And of course, many soldiers have lost their lives. I do not support this continued bloodshed, and so I only "support the troops" in as much as I care enough about their lives to bring them home. But to attach some noble cause to what they are doing in Iraq is just rediculous. Its a horrible situation no doubt, but lets be honest...not every soldier is some super patriot hero who joined the military out of the love for his country and to defend our rights. It is a job, and if you apply, you will most likely be hired. You can get your school payed for and have life long benefits. I won't knock you if you sign up for economic reasons, even when you know damn well what you're getting into. But I certainly don't see any reason to praise you for it.
i'm particularly sensitive on this topic because my cousin served two tours in iraq. he came from those annoyingly patriotic people, the ones who send out the stupid and wildly inaccurate emails about the evils of the muslims and blah blah blah. he was trying to straighten out his life, he'd been an alcholic and drug abuser with nowhere to turn. he thought, with a certain degree of hope, that the army would be the way to go. we've got loads of people who served through various wars and conflicts, and he really looked up to them. and for a while, it worked WONDERFULLY. but after serving his two tours, he just wasn't the same person anymore. he was fatigued, stressed, incapable of dealing with people on a daily normal basis. he spent months in training, and was going BACK to iraq in august. he couldn't deal with this shit. his life totally spiralled out of control, the alcohol, the "what the fuck does it matter anymore" the disrespect and the knowledge of things he'd done and friends he'd lost. he got drunk one night and sped off on his motorcycle and slammed it in the back of a taxi. his mother and sister, who were trying to get to him to take care of him didn't make it there in time to save him, but they were there in time to watch the authorities pick up his remains. and all the people who showed up at his funeral, the lines of flag holders and flag wavers, the cars EVERYWHERE, the huge furniture store they'd had to use for his funeral...WHERE WERE THEY WHEN HE WAS LOSING IT? where were they when he was getting spit on? these kids have enough shit to deal with without you compounding it. if you want to protest the stupidity of this war, DO IT LIKE I DO. FIRE THE BASTARDS WHO DON'T SUPPORT OUR TROOPS who have no business being over there anyway and should be brought home. but don't do it in such a way that the mess we made hurts those poor people over there whose lives we've already scrambled. we owe it to them to continue rebuilding.
While 4,000 have perished and over 30,000 have been injured since our incursion (many of whom have lost limbs and are maimed for life) we owe them something, but what? Well bush’s head on a plate to start Hotwater
nice post kc, it is certainly not only a sacred responsibilty to send soldiers into war for the most purposeful of reasons but also to choose to care for them upon their return this iraq war as has been the case with all wars, the human needs of those who have struggled and fought for their country are for the most part ignored, sometimes they get a highway named after them and told how wonderful they are but there is intense trauma from their experience
Nobody owes the murderers in Iraq anything , other than a trial for war crimes- and a particularly stiff penalty. Still drool over the oil in Iran if you want. But dont go crying to the rest of the world when something 20 x the size of the WTC happens and is this time actually DONE by Arabs. The rest of the world's a bit bored of the new Hitler and his army of lackies and apologists. Maybe I need to draw a diagram "I_RAK " isnt actually part of America
Haha Nice post, I like it. "We fucked the Middle East and gave birth to a demon." - Immortal Technique
you didn't even read anything i said. you just drew a totally erroneous conclusion based on what you WANTED to see and piss about.
ugh, i swear. i believe it's crucial to have respect for the troops who serve, and it's aslo crucial to pick and choose VERY carefully and respectfully for the world at large how they're to be utilized. sending them off to some stupid oil conflict isn't really respecting our troops.
forget what these ignorant people say KC. they don't know the sound of a bugle playing for a lost family/friend.
