    Hey All,

I've moved around quite a bit (have most of us?) and I am finally trying to settle somewhere, at least for 5 years or so. So my question:

What city/town do you find has a very - hippy, artsy, young - vibe, with good bars, good beer on tap, good music, and land to purchase?

If you've been to Athens, Ohio, I would consider that fairly hip, though I'm looking for not such a college town.

Austin sounds pleasing. Been looking at Asheville - but the job market seems slim.

Maybe there are cities/towns out there that I have not heard of. Tell me! I'd love to learn a new secret.

    Thanks!

    DwarfJuggler,

The 2 most HIPPY-type cities that I know of are: SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (the ORIGINAL HIPPY-CITY) and ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN!!! MADISON, WISCONSIN supposedly has a cool HIPPY section. There was alot of COLLEGE (HIPPY) PROTESTERS in MADISON, WISCONSIN (during the late 1960's), who were mostly protesting NAPALM-bonb use (and production by DOW CHEMICAL CO.)!!!

Ann Arbor, Michigan is similar to San Francisco in that it has alot of beautiful old VICTORIAN homes, and is somewhat HILLY in the northern and eastern sections of the city. It's not on an ocean, like San Francisco, but on it's northern end, it has THE HURON RIVER, which becomes as wide as a lake (near Ann Arbor, MI) and has a few long bridges to cross the HURON RIVER. Ann Arbor is heavily FORESTED, with many beautiful flowers in the SUMMERTIME!!! There are many MAJESTIC (and old) University of Michigan (U of M) COLLEGIATE BUILDINGS (many with climbing IVY) and old GOTHIC-style churches.

Ann Arbor, Michigan is famous for it's U of M football team (BIG 10) and University Hospital. It has many fine restaurants and bars, with excellant food, especially SANDWICHES and PIZZA! I love to eat and shop in Ann Arbor!!! Ann Arbor is considered a VERY LIBERAL (or PROGRESSIVE) town, with many "RON PAUL" and "911 TRUTH" signs posted around!!! It is also sort of YUPPYISH, with many fine art and designer shops, but it also has many COOL HIPPY-type shops, like: THE MIDDLE EARTH, URBAN OUTFITTERS, THE SAFE SEX SHOP and at least 4 "HEAD SHOPS"!!!

What other HIP-city has an ANNUAL HASH BASH (ACTIVIST'S RALLY for CANNABIS LEGALIZATION and PARTYING, with selected , local bands)? PLUS, a "de-criminalized" MARIJUANA (CITY) LAW (only a $50 fine)!!!

This year (2008) will be the 37TH ANNUAL HASH BASH in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on April 05, 2008 (SATURDAY), at 12AM - 1PM (on the U of M CAMPUS "DIAG"), plus the BLOCK PARTY (MONROE STREET FAIR) follows, from 12PM - 6PM on MONROE STREET (in front of DOMINICK'S Italian Cafe, 812 Monroe Street, on the southern end of the U of M DIAG), featuring LOCAL BANDS, usually from MICHIGAN and OHIO, but quite good and psychedelic, baby!!! HOLLAND and RUSSIA also know of the famous ANN ARBOR HASH BASH!

For further INFORMATION on the ANN ARBOR HASH BASH and MONROE STREET FAIR, do an internet SEARCH ON: "Ann Arbor Hash Bash" and "monroestreetfair.com", to see many PHOTOS and YouTube VIDEOS, as well. The most NOTEWORTHY websites are:

(I'm in the extreme bottom-right corner of the PHOTO (#6) , sitting on the U of M grass lawn, wearing a BLUE JEAN'S jacket , with the WOODSTOCK EMBLEM on back (white DOVE and GUITAR logo, on a RED-background), plus I'm wearing a "yellowish", WOODSTOCK, (tie-dyed) baseball cap. I'm also just to the right of the standing girl, wearing a LIME-colored sweater).

Ann Arbor, Michigan had a famous BEATNIK/HIPPY ICON in the 1960's: JOHN SINCLAIR (BORN: OCTOBER 02, 1941, in FLINT, MICHIGAN), who was FAMOUS for being: a BEATNIK WARRIOR POET, BOOK Author: "GUITAR ARMY", MC5 (Detroit band) MANGER, LEADER of THE WHITE PANTHERS group, JAZZ ENTHUSIAST, and a DJ down in LOUISIANA!!! He was arrested in 1969, for giving an UNDERCOVER NARCOTIC'S OFFICER two MARIJUANA JOINTS. SONG: John Sinclair (Lyrics) By JOHN LENNON
    LINK: www.lyricsdepot.com/john-lennon/john-sinclair.html

    "Controversy at Woodstock"

"At Woodstock in 1969, Hoffman interrupted The Who's performance to attempt a protest speech against the jailing of John Sinclair of the White Panther Party. He grabbed a microphone and yelled, "I think this is a pile of sh*t! While John Sinclair rots in prison. . . " The Who's guitarist, Pete Townshend, unhappy with the interuption, cut Hoffman off mid-sentence, shouting, "Fu*k off! Fu*ck off my fu*king stage!" He then struck Hoffman with his guitar, sending the interloper tumbling offstage, to the approving roar of the crowd. Townshend later said that while he agreed with Hoffman on Sinclair's imprisonment. he would have knocked him offstage regardless of the content of his message, given that it had violated the "sanctity of the stage,"" For the REST OF THE STORY, go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbie_hoffman

The ANNUAL ANN ARBOR HASH BASH was founded from JOHN SINCLAIR'S 1969 MARIJUANA POSSESSION BUST!!! JOHN SINCLAIR used to appear at the ANNUAL ANN ARBOR HASH BASH'S, but he moved to AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND (NETHERLANDS), a few years ago, and attends it's CANNABIS CUP!! He sometimes flys back to FLINT, MICHIGAN, for a visit!

JOHN SINCLAIR, performing with one of his favorite FLINT BANDS: "GLOWB", at an ANN ARBOR HASH BASH:

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN is also MORE famous for its ANN ARBOR STREET ART FAIR (THE ORIGINAL), winning MANY AWARDS, and usually, NUMBER ONE-RATED in the NATION!!! It practically covers the ENTIRE CITY with ARTS and EATS and ACTIVISTS' booths, with MIND-BLOWING ART and EXCELLANT FOOD!!! There are also many STREET PERFORMERS!!! This year is its 49TH YEAR!!! It will be on July 16 - 19, 2008 / W-F: 10AM - 9PM, SAT: 10AM - 6PM.
    LINK: www.artfair.org

I ALWAYS LOVE TO attend both of these FINE ANN ARBOR events, i.e. THE ANNUAL ANN ARBOR HASH BASH and THE ANNUAL ANN ARBOR STREET ART FAIRS (3 TOTAL in ALL). I have a VERY ENJOYABLE TIME!!!

ANN ARBOR is a famous COLLEGE TOWN, so it has many YOUNG STUDENTS. Your POST DESCRIPTION is what ANN ARBOR is WORLD FAMOUS for, its HASH BASH (being HIPPY) and ART FAIRS (being "ARTSY" and YUPPY), plus YOUNG STUDENTS, MANY FINE RESTAURANTS and BARS and "DE-CRIMINALIZED" MARIJUANA LAWS!!! It's VERY LIBERAL and PROGRESIVE! JOHN SINCLAIR (a 60's ICON) made ANN ARBOR, MI famous for his WHITE PANTHERS PARTY.

I've been to SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA and it's still pretty HIPPY, but NOT LIKE when it was in the 1960's!!! ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN is a little more YUPPY, nowadays, but it still is one of the most HIPPY-type cities that I know of!!! GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN has a decent HIPPY-section, but ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN is more DEFINITIVE in "hippiness"!!!

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN is more expensive to live in, than most MICHIGAN cities, but it is probably way cheaper to live in, than SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA. I met one guy, who had a house in each of these HIP-cities!!! It may be cheaper to live just outside of Ann Arbor, like in SALINE, MICHIGAN, or YPSILANT, MICHIGAN. GOOGLE just opened a big place in Ann Arbor, but the MICHIGAN ECONOMY hasn't been the greatest. A U of M job would be good, however!!!

Many MICHIGANDERS move to FLORIDA, to RETIRE, but they're NOT looking for a HIPPY-type town! MICHIGAN is surrounded by 20% of the WORLD's FRESH WATER SUPPLY, which will become a NATURAL RESOURCE (more valuable than GOLD, or OIL, in the future)!

"DwarfJuggler": I hope you find a COOL HIPPY-type CITY to move to, but I gave you my two TOP CHOICES!!!

    Peace, love and understanding . . .

most of us will keep a lid on it so the touristas don't invade.
    We like our small enclaves!

But what I noticed when travelling is:
Portland Ore. At the time Hawthorne had that hip but not panhandling vibe. Lots of funkyness in the shops and the people. Nice weather at New Years and good public transport didn't suck!

Fayetteville Ark., has a nice freak vibe under the sooie pig crowds.

    Austin, TX is nicely weird.

Marin County, CA had lots of pockets, and I never had the feeling someone was judging me for being a freak, and across the water is San Fran.

Thanks you guys for a reply.

I"ve spent 9 years living near Detriot/Ann Arbor, so I feel I"ll have to write that one off. Actually love Michigan, but I'm looking for something different.

Places I would send others to are:

    Moab, Utah
    Durango, Colorado
    Santa Fe, New Mexico
    Flagstaff, Arizona
    Whitefish, Montana
    Portsmouth, New Hampshire
    North Conway, New Hampshire
    Burlington, Vermont
    Athens, Ohio
    Savannah, Georgia
    Asheville, North Carolina

In the 1970's, I traveled all over the United States, and some parts of CANADA. I attended Arizona State University (TEMPE, ARIZONA), from 1973 - 1974, so I'll give you some more possible HIIPPY-city choices, but times have changed from the 1960's , and there are a not a whole lot of real good HIP choices left!!!

I had a feeling you wouldn't want to live in the two TOP CHOICES of San Francisco, California, or Ann Arbor, Michigan, but they both have a wide range of all things that are HIPPY. I like both of those cities, and Ann Arbor, MI has all the things that I like in a HIP city, including restored HISTORIC buidings (with CHARACTER and PERSONALITY) and INDIVIDUAL, CREATIVE shops (of NON-MALL CONSCIOUSNESS) and COLORFUL ARTWORK ON and IN many buildings. I always feel like I'm living in the late 60's/early 70's when I go there!!!

I live just north of DETROIT (in a BEST CHOICE/SAFE CITY), but it is not even close to the HIPPY-ness of Ann Arbor. There are METRO-DETROIT suburbs that want some of Ann Arbor's HIPPY-ness, but it probably won't happen for them. ROYAL OAK, MI (as featured in the TV SERIES: "HOME IMPROVEMENT") and BERKLEY, MI are the HIPPYEST SPOTS close to me, but I'd prefer to live in Ann Arbor, to those two cities. Actually I just love to live out in the country (woods), close to a HIP-city, but not actually live in a city!!!

    - OTHER POSSIBLE CHOICES -

    1) HAWAII is very spiritual and hip, with "MOWIE WOWWIE" (PAPAYA-flavored POT?) and "KONA GOLD", but it could be an EXPENSIVE place to live in and move to. It would be a more DRAMATIC move.

    2) OREGON has become, sort of , a HIPPY state. KEN KESEY (of the : MERRY PRANKSTERS and INTREPID TRIPS, AUTHOR OF: "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest") lived in PLEASANT HILL, OREGON. I bought one of his "autographed" PSYCHEDELIC VIDEO'S (of his adventures, with his PSYCHEDELIC BUS "FURTHER" and his "MERRY PRANKSTERS"). "drumminmama" mentioned PORTLAND, OREGON, which is where I was on July 04, 1976, enjoying the "second largest" BI-CENTENNIEL FIREWORKS DISPLAY!!! KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON was nice, but I don't know how HIP it is?

    3) SEATTLE, WASHINGTON has been a cool and HIP town. They're into naturally-growing MAGIC MUSHROOMS, there. From NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, up into BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, there is sort of a "POT GROWING-BELT" there. However, if just ONE of those many VOLCANOES (MT. HOOD?) go ACTIVE, it's SO LONG SEATTLE!!!

    4) VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA is the CANADIAN-version of SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, and pretty COOL!

    5) MANITOU SPRINGS, COLORADO (just NORTHEAST of COLORADO SPRINGS and next to PIKE'S PEAK) was very HIPPY, when I visited there in the 1970's. They even had a HEAD SHOP!!!

    6) HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CALIFORNIA is basically on the PACIFIC OCEAN COAST, in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. It contains many beautiful old REDWOOD FORESTS!!! I have an old HIGH SCHOOL friend, who lives just out of LA, CA (in a more DESERTY-area) and has a MEDICAL MARIJUANA card. One time he traveled up to the HUMBOLDT CALIFORNIA region, which is known for GROWING MEDICAL MARIJUANA, and has some MEDICAL DISPENSARIES up there. He said that the HUMBOLDT COUNTY region was just like the old 1970's HIPPY DAYS!!! But no real ART COLONIES!

    7) MT. SHASTA, CALIFORNIA is a big NEW AGE area, with many strange MYSTICAL HAPPENINGS going on!!! QUITE BEAUTIFUL!!! Many believe that there is an underground city (under MT. SHASTA) called TELOS, with a race left over from ancient LEMURIA (MU), as this section of CALIFORNIA is believed to be a "left-over" SURVIVING piece of LEMURIA!!! Many UFO'S are spotted and "hyper-dimensional VORTEX" events happen!!! Some MILITARY INTELLIGENCE OFFICERS claim that there is a TOP SECRET GOVERNMENT BASE under MT. SHASTA (with our own EARTH FLYING SAUCERS)!!! Just do a YAHOO SEARCH on "MT. SHASTA" and "TELOS", to see what I mean!!!

    8) SEDONA, ARIZONA is another HIGHLY-MYSTICAL area, heavy into the NEW AGE MOVEMENT, PLUS it's an ARTIST COLONY!!! It's beautiful RED ROCK contrasts the DEEP PINE-GREEN colors of the EVERGREEN trees!!! It is believed to contain many NATURAL ENERGY VORTEXES (powered from our PLANETARY EM GRID)!!!

    - ATHENS, OHIO: At the ANNUAL ANN ARBOR ART FAIRS (usually around the end of the third weekend in JULY), there is an ART VENDOR there, called: ROGER'S TIE-DYE STUDIO, who is based in ATHENS, OHIO. I've been to many cities in OHIO, but I can't remember if I've ever been through ATHENS, OHIO? I've bought many TIE-DYED items form ROGER'S TIE-DYE STUDIO (at the ANN ARBOR ART FAIRS)!!!

    - SANDUSKY, OHIO is COOL, because that is where CEDAR POINT AMUSEMENT PARK is!!! Plus, SANDUSKY BAY is well known for WALLEYE FISHING!!! It's a FUN area, but is it HIPPY enough???

I like the INTELLECTUAL and CULTURAL STIMULATION that COLLEGE TOWNS offer, so I'm into COLLEGE TOWNS (especially HIPPY ones), but that's not what YOU want, so I offered you EIGHT new choices to consider. I've ACTUALLY been to all of my choices, EXCEPT HAWAII!!!

At least, I helped your THREAD to BLOSSOM!!! I was hoping that I was not the only one to REPLY to it. I hope that I have given you some more good possibilities to consider!

    Peace, love and understanding . . .

Thanks for the info... Crazy about Roger. Roger just left my place today. He's a vendor who travels around and every February finds his way here, and stays at my B&B. Works at the Seafood fest. He trades tye-dyes for lodging.

I'll check out the places you mentioned. I grew up in West Bloomfield, sub-burb of Detroit, but I left long ago, and don't know much about it any more. Not crazy about the cold anymore.... Life in Florida and the desert has turned my blood thin.

    DwarfJuggler,

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MICHIGAN is a very WEALTHY, UP-SCALE ("YUPPIE-TYPE") city, with many beautiful homes and mansions. There probably is a high percentage of JEWISH people, there, mostly friendly, intelligent and cultured. But of course, it is NOT a HIPPY-type of city! DEARBORN, MICHIGAN is mostly ARABIC people, mostly friendly.

The DETROIT-METRO area has the highest-percentage of MIDDLE EASTERN people, outside of the MIDDLE EAST, with many IRAQI'S, too! But AMAZINGLY, most people get along in the METRO-DETROIT area, except for some "gangy" areas in the CITY OF DETROIT, but then, CHICAGO and LOS ANGELES have their "gangy" areas, as well! DOWNTOWN DETROIT is usually "SAFE", but it is more HIP-HOPPY and RAPPY.

"KID ROCK" is from ROMEO, MICHIGAN, which is just north of where I live, and is where I buy my FRESH FRUIT and VEGETABLES (in the SUMMERTIME, and FALL), as it is primarily an ORCHARD area. Just south of me is WARREN, MICHIGAN (8 MILE ROAD divides it from DETROIT), where "SLIM SHADY" (EMINEM, or MARSHALL BRUCE MATHERS III) used to live!!!

SANTE FE, NEW MEXICO may be worth checking out, as it is in a WARM area, but I don't know how "HIPPY" it may be? Looks COOL, even though it is HOT!!!

ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO is NEW AGEY, but may be TOO WEIRD for most people's tastes!!! One ROSWELL McDONALD'S is shaped like a UFO!!!
McDONALD'S HAS LANDED on EARTH!!! "That's one small step for RONALD, and one giant leap for McDONALDS-kind." Their food is a little ALIEN-looking, though???
ROSWELL McDONALDS (UFO = Unidentified Frying Object???):

WEIRD PICTURES FROM ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO: (Who's those GREY "DUDES"???)
    LINK: http://webshots.com/search?query=Roswell,+New+Mexico

Most of the MAJOR HIPPY SPOTS are in the COLDER CLIMATES!!! I liked most parts of GEORGIA, but I'm not aware of any HOT HIPPY SPOTS down there! ARKANSAS might have some nice spots! TUSCON, ARIZONA (University of Arizona) has many hippies living there, but in the 1970's, it was labelled as a "MAFIA RETIREMENT VILLAGE" and IMPORTED 80% of the USA'S ILLEGAL DRUG SUPPLY, up through MEXICO, which is WHY there were many HIPPIES living down there in the 1970's!!!

In the 1970's, my family liked to take a two-week vacation down to VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA, during SPRING BREAKS!!! My mother was a member of: The Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.), which is based upon the famous PSYCHIC: EDGAR CAYCE (America's Sleeping Prophet). The A.R.E. has its HEADQUARTERS in a big, old WHITE BUILDING, located on the ATLANTIC OCEAN front, just a few miles north of the DOWNTOWN section of VIRGINIA BEACH.

My family, and I, would stay in a MOTEL (with a KICHENETTE), right across the road, from the A.R.E. (RIGHT ON VIRGINIA BEACH)!!! During the up-coming EARTH CHANGES, it was proclaimed a "SAFE" area by EDGAR CAYCE. JOHN LENNON (of the BEATLES) was a member of the A.R.E., and even purchased property in the VIRGINIA BEACH area!!!

My sister, and her family used to live in NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA (located just north of VIRGINIA BEACH), where she had a CIVILIAN JOB for the U.S. NAVY, working in the NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD (in PORTSMOUTH, VA), which is one of the world's largest shipyards. OFFICIAL SITE: www.nnsy1.navy.mil .

THE NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD is the SHIPYARD where the famous "PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT" ("TIME TRAVEL") supposedly took place!!! DAVID WILCOCK, is supposedly the REINCARNATION of EDGAR CAYCE (www.divinecosmos.com) and supposedly knows how TIME-TRAVEL was discovered, and works:

"So this is apparently what was done inadvertently with the Philadelphia Experiment. The Philadelphia Experiment started with tests that were done on very, very high intensity welding, arc welding of naval vessels, and they had enormous pieces of steel that they are welding together. They blast it with electrical energy at a very high frequency and they started to notice the tools would disappear after this. They couldn't find them.

They finally filmed it and they found that when they blasted this arc welding thing, that there would be this big black hole that would appear in the room, and they discovered that, in fact, it was de-materializing objects and they wouldn't come back.

So this is what led them to do increasing amounts of research, discovering that electrical energy is one way that can pop this hole between space/time and time/space, and get through to this realm down here.

Well, they tried to send a ship of sailors through, and unfortunately there was inconsistency in the hull. The ship's hull was kind of used as an antenna to allow this energy to form around the ship properly. They put coils on the ship and there were coils off shore. The ship, apparently, got caught up in this energy flow. It manifested up in Philadelphia, hence the Philadelphia Experiment, (it was originally the Norfolk Naval Shipyard) and then it popped back in the shipyard."

Me, and my family, almost moved down to the VIRGINIA BEACH area (in the 1970's). It's a nice area, and maybe somewhat HIP, if JOHN LENNON owned property there!!! With EDGAR CAYCE'S Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) and the PHILDELPHIA ("TIME TRAVEL") EXPERIMENT, at the NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD (in OCTOBER 28, 1943?), the VIRGINIA BEACH area maybe a little "X-FILEY". By the way, the ORIGINAL ship in the PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT was supposedly the MINESWEEPER IX97, and NOT the USS ELDERIDGE (DE-173)!!!

SEDONA, ARIZONA is in a somewhat SAFE-area, with no big OCEANS by, which could POTENTIALLY become dangerous if a MASSIVE EARTHQUAKE or VOLCANO, or a HUGE METEOR (or COMET) strikes the OCEAN (to cause a BIG and NASTY TSUNAMI), or if the EARTH TILTS ON ITS AXIS!!! The HOPI Native American Tribe is just NORTHEAST of SEDONA, and are preparing for DECEMBER 21, A.D.2012, when the EARTH SHIFTS from the 4TH, to the 5TH WORLDS (DIMENSIONS?)!!!

"IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL" - WALT DISNEY, since you know who ROGER is (of: ROGER'S TIE-DYE STUDIO, in ATHENS, OHIO)!!! Give him my best regards!!! I still have (and actually WEAR) many of his fine TIE-DYED ART WORKS!!! I may see him, in the 3rd week of JULY, 2008, at the ANNUAL ANN ARBOR ART FAIRS!!!

Most of my older relatives want to move down to FLORIDA to RETIRE! My youngest brother (and his family) want a JOB TRANSFER to ORLANDO, FLORIDA. My sister (and her family) would like to move down there to start up a CHRISTIAN MINISTRY (BAPTIST?). Currently, my sister's daughter is attending a PAUL MITCHELL SCHOOL down in ORLANDO, FLORIDA, to became a HAIRDRESSER. There's TOO MANY people from MICHIGAN, who moved down to FLORIDA!!! Hey, they're BOTH PENINSULA STATES!!!

I'm running out of HIPPY HAVEN suggestions, but that's all I have, for now! Take care!

    Peace, love and understanding . . .

Asheville, North Carolina is a small woodsy area that is extremely liberal and... nice. I know someone there who was able to purchase a pretty big house in the mountains there on very little money. And like I said, very liberal.

You want a good city? I'd say come here before the new laws ruin it completely; most aren't passed yet.. so you better come while its still nice. Ofcourse I'm talking about Amsterdam. The nightlife goes on till in the early morning and if you find the right parties well into the next day, there's coffeeshops where you can buy weed (and for now still) smartshops that sell magic mushrooms.. there's a lot of nice history to the city and even though some people hate tourists (don't walk on the bicycle paths!!! Its really, really annoying and a lot of tourits do it. Watch out because people WILL try and drive in to you occasionally if you do that), most people are quite friendly and open here and there's always something to do.
I even like to just stay here for vacations; so it must be good. There isn't much nature around though; but in summer the parks are full and the people friendly. Actually I do advice; only come here in summer, in winter the streets are empthier, and people are a lot more to themselves.

In summer.. if you find the right party somewher eint he outskirts of town, have a great night, come back somewhere in the middle of the next day under a bright sun and people everywhere and wonder how they live in today while you're still a part of yesterday.. great yeah. Very advicable.

The sleepy village of Sierra Madre has one too. It's called Beantown. Unfortunately I once saw a housefly buzzing around inside their enclosed pastry showcase that is below the counter. That was a turn off :(
