So my TV's on and there's this soap opera on ABC and all I'm hearing right now is "your father is not an alcoholic anymore!!!! he's a better man!" blah blah blah.. and the guy's like no I hate him... and the mom or whatever she is... she goes "you punk!!!! that's right, that's what you are!" and the guy looks really, really insulted... and they argue more... and I just sigh. Soaps are so stupid and dramatic, and I don't like them... was my point. I want my life to never be this way. Some people's life actually is pretty similar to the soap people's lives... ugh.
sometimes i think it would be fun to act like im in a soap opera for a day...just go around town and bask in the looks of confusion.
I work with a girl that just turned 19 and her life is a soap opera, I'm sure. Holy shit, we almost hate her. Haha. Every day it's SOMETHING! Today was "I've been sick for 3 days and the electricity got turned off right before I came to work and can I go home early???" She was ALREADY scheduled to leave at 3:30 and didn't come in until 11:30, the rest of us were 9-5 (the manager) and 11-5 (me and the drive cashier). Aaaaauuuuugggghhhh. I wish we could fire people on the grounds that they just all around suck at life.
That would be One Life to Live you watched...I am addicted to that show Jared (the guy Dorian called a punk) is pretending he is a Buchanan, while Dorian (the punk caller) is living with Jared's real father and is the only person in Lanview who knows Jared is really not Asa's son.
If you stayed on ABC until 3 you would have seen General Hospital, which is the best damn soap ever made. It is hella sweet, and plays more like a mini movie rather than a soap. Somehow, I have a feeling you would really like Sonny if you watched too.
Wasn't Guiding Light the very first soap to be broadcast on the radio as well? I know it was ONE of the first, at least.
I agree! I used to be sucked into Days of our Lives. I still watch it every once in awhile, but only because I want to find out what's going on with the characters. That show sucks now though.
I started watching GH when an exgirlfriend told me all about it, and I have been hooked since. I did grow up on them though, I'll admit. My mother and my aunt were always watching soaps, and I was usually around in the afternoon, but they were CBS fans. The first soap I got hooked on was As The World Turns back in the mid nineties. Go ahead and make fun
Haha, I was obsessed with Guiding Light the summers I was in junior high. When I was in school, my mom taped it and we watched it after school. I was madly in love with Danny. I stopped watching when they changed the actress that played Michelle (Danny's wife). Haha. I was such a dork.
The only soap opera I ever watched was Dark Shadows on the Sci-Fi channel a few years ago Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows. Hotwater
Manda, I wanted to BE Danny for a long time, mainly because I had a huge thing for michelle, but like you, I was pissed when they changed her.
I used to love the bold and the beautiful. It's such a shame they don't show it over here but whenever I go home I still end up watching it.
