Hello all this is my first post, Ive been around the block way to many times and I haven't attempted anything like this in over 25 years. I haven't had any problems getting good weed for the last 10 years but as everyone knows, "nothing lasts forever". Due to my situation I don't get out very much so I don't know that many people. I can only grow indoors. I live in a retirement community in a semi tropical climate so it gets hot here. I have room in my garage so I need to get a turn key system, I've seen a few and I think they are expensive but I've been paying 4 large a pound. So, if anyone out there has had any experience with those turn key systems I'm all ears. Thanks for your time.

Sounds as if you want to go hydroponic. The turnkey systems tend to be overpriced, you could do better by doing two things. First and foremost buy a good grow book, you'll refer to it many times after you start growing, but a lot of the info in it will help you decide how you want to grow, and what you'll need to do it. Second, scour the websites of the turnkey systems, figure out as much as you can why they package what they do; what wattage, how many feet per second exhaust fan, and so on. Then find a local hydro store or two close to home, tell them what you're up to (although mine have a fit if anyone mentions the M word, they prefer just indoor gardening), and see what kind of package they can put together.
    Good luck

    I totally forgot about this!

Check out General Hydroponics' "Water Farm". It is a pretty straight forward reasonably priced system. You can even buy individual stations.

They are pretty easy to build yourself. A trip to Home Depot, Pet Store and Grow Shop and you are ready to assemble :) Try doing a search on Google for DIY waterfarm or hydroponics.

Any good grow shop should have Hydrofarm catalogs take one and read when you see one that looks easy for you. Get it! and practise growing, heck i'm working on about the 200th system change since I started, well a few years ago!

Hi again, I got my seeds from over sea, I'm clearing out the room and I'm going to start this thing up. There are lots of Hydro shops in this neck of the woods I'll try to feel my way around. On my last try, there was no internet but with all the help available I think I can do a decent job. I'll think of it like a hobby. I'm just worried about the heat, it gets hot down here and I don't want to have to add an A/C to the mix. Maybe I'll post some pics so you guys can get an idea of what I'm working with. Thanks in advance.

Hi All again I checked out my Garage and came across a new intact kit called Smartgardens with genuine Autopot Modules by Futuregarden. I'm almost positive the manufactured went belly up. This is a drip system with 8 10" pots and a growing medium of perlite and coco-coir. If anyone has any experience with this or a like system I could use as much help as I can get. Next, I'm going to need lights, I'm thinking of a dual MH, HPS with a vented and enclosed hood and a good safe digital Ballast.

Tricky is'nt it? knowing when t pinch or top the heads. I'd say anything over 4 to 5 weeks from seed is safe t top as it stressful t the plant but as a rule i top at 1/3 the final heigh i want then grow 4 another 2 to 4 weeks then take cutting n then bloom.

Are they all females? I would'nt do a proper scrog with a mesh or screen if i did'nt know. Mj can get quite tall if you let it. Any guide should say but pitching you remove the main growing head, topping you cut about an inch or off the top. Net result plant starts thicken out more and grows more branches with lovely heads and node points mmmm

Today my plants are 28 days in the box, I've been giving them 20 hours of 600w MH light a day. I have a jungle there and I'm running out of space fast. I want to flower them so I can pull the males, any ideas? I was advised to pinch the tops, I was advised to SCROG it, right now I'm concerned about space. These pics are 2 days old.

    Thanks

Thanks for the responce, OK we cut but when? Do I do it now or wait untill I know the males from the Females. I realize I'm not getting buds on the bottom, shit I can't even see the bottom thru the fan leaves. I can tell you I have 7 bubble gum and one Giant BigBud. I have 8 plants in 9 sq feet.

    Thanks

cut light back to 18, your giving them alot of light thats good. They do need a bit more darkness. But its fine. Not a problem.
28 days. Still a bit early for maturity. But not far.
your sexxing should be around the corner if not happening yet..
Take a closer look at the Nodes and branches.
8 plants/ Im gonna take a guess and say 2 are males. but prolly less. If you started from good seed stock? I use good seed stock and 2/out of 10/ ratio 4males2fem. so you might have only one...Let us know!
But the evenness of your room says your not going to find many males? Lets hope not!

I can sure as hell cut back the light, I do realize that even under 24 hours of light eventually the sex will show. My seeds are from a seed company, I would love to have only 2 male plants. you say "But the evenness of your room says your not going to find many males?" I'm a little confused there, but the 7 Bubble gums are about the same size, I have one monster BigBud.

If your getting tight for head room in your box then you should top straight away coz there only gonna get bigger anything over 4 to 5 weeks is fairly safe. Another bonus is after topping some will show there sex at the point u took the cut. Maturity is when the branches or nodes start t move apart on the stems and branches..... Old prime mate long time no see I've been away lol. Anyway good health t ya.

I can handle the hight I have 72", it's that the plants are right up against each other, I was just able to get the 8 pots in my box. I understand Bubblegum gets to about 3 to 3 1/2 meters tall.
