trying t' find records of his late lectures. if anyone's got tapes or leads on transcripts, etc. rsvp.
baught it lol... I walked right out of chapters with it, if i got caught i was going to say the book told me to.
I wish i hadn't, hoffman had nothing good or useful to say. I think that book was just a social symbol.
of course, he was just another unwashed, draft dodging communist. guys like him and his already well to do friends skipped out on the war while guys like my uncle had no choice but to go get shipped over to nam. then afterwards these same scumbags spit on people like my uncle and called them babykillers and other descriptive and not so nice terms. i met one of hoffman's buddies at a rainbow fmaily gathering almost ten years ago. he told me that hoffman was basicly just a self centered asshole who cared more about his own ego than he did about fighting the man. this guy who is an original Yippie by the way, said a lot of famous countercultural leaders and icons fought more amongst themselves than they did anyone else.
years ago i read Do It! by Jerry rubins. some parts of it were kind of humorous, but still it had nothing of any serious literary value in it.
Well here you go http://www.pieman.org/abbiehoffman/ scroll down to the middle of the page, its called Wake Up Amerika
Abbie Hoffman was an establishment tool, probably working for the CIA as many of the 60's counter-cultural figures like Leary and Steinem admitedly were. It has been said by 60's activists that Abbie Hoffman or Huey Newton would lead a march down a street, right into a waiting cordon of riot police, where Hoffman and Newton would then disappear.
of course, people like that gather names and dirt on other people who legitimately believe in their cause or idea. then they hand the names over to the authorities. meanwhile these informants and undercovers can get away with whatever criminal acitivity they want with impunity.
