killswitchjd-- I'm sorry to hear that you aren't able to find any of the homegrowns. Where are you located? It seems like there is a big division of availability in this thread. Obviously it all depends on who you know. However, I believe some of your comments in regards to Minn. weed are rather naive and I would like to respond to them so that we do not give the wrong impression of our cannabis availability up here. Names are not just to signifiy quality. I find it personally upsetting (although dealers find it pleasing) that buyers regard names as "brands" and not as strains. Think of it as more of a diagnostic system. Its purpose is so that breeders can communicate with eachother about desired genetic variablity. Example: pot of gold means skunk #1 x hindu kush to a grower or breeder. Grower 1 grows pot of gold in an indoors fertilizer system that stresses the plants. Grower 2 grows pot of gold outdoors. When the buyer looks at these two buds, they will clearly look, smell, and taste different. But they are still the same strain. Even if they were clones from the same seed and grown in different enough conditions their characteristics would still be distinct. This is one of the main reasons we all love experiencing different types cannabis! There are quality strains in Minnesota. I've even heard the old Cali guys talk about "those Minnesota kids who took our outdoors and made them indoors." I would agree that if the person you are getting it from can not tell you where it came from, then it probably is a fake strain. But please don't take that as proof of no quality genetics in our neck of the woods. The suburb grows are getting big and they know what they are doing. At any given time, you should be able to find those strains I listed above among others. Also, as time passes people breed strains, more strains develop, and the diagnostic system gets that much more confusing (but that much more exciting). An 1/8 oz. of cannabis should not cost $60. It happened right after 9/11 and specifically after the 2003 Patriot Act that beasters started going for $50/eighth because of the risk of getting it over the boarder. This is a problem extremelly relevant in Minnesota. Beasters should be dirt cheap! It's the commercial dealers, smugglers, and naive young buyers who are increasing the price of every other bud level because of this. Beasters are the problem in the market. However, it is changing, and will change, now that it's easier for smugglers to get quality grown buds back here from out west instead of factory buds from BC. The Cali outdoors are much less than 250$/oz if you know where to find them. Prices will keep dropping as medical grade gains popularity. Weight of quality strains from the buyers clubs will keep being shipped out here. I used to read this forum when I was younger and stumbled upon it recently. It's amazing to realize that I used to be on the other end of the forum all those years back. From my perspective now, it seems the younger people who are still searching for life experiences do not yet understand that cannabis is not some illusive narcotic like our society makes it seem, but that it is actually a beautiful plant that wants to grow. If you close your eyes now and let the days pass, you will wake up several years later. By this time, your friends will grow, yourself too, and you will be arguing the difference between a name-brand and a genetic variation to a forum of people who will hopefully be in your place some day.
Hey..been in MN for about 2 years now, but havent found a good dealer..mostly drive down to a frinds's place in Iowa whenever i want to score..sucks big time
East River Flats is an awesome place. I have a few nice memories of lighting up down there when I was a freshman and I lived in the dorms right next to the river. Meeting up with internet people just isn't my style though... no offense to anyone.
I'm from west central WI but I have friends in Mpls that grow locally. Particularly, there is an underground strain that goes by the name of "Gravity." It's a mix of Jack Herer, a NL strain, and a skunk strain. I am not 100% sure as to the accuracy of this, but I can tell you it's some KNOCKOUT SHIT. Probably some of the best stuff I've smoked - EVER. Anyway, there are lots of strains I have been able to sample over the years - "Burmese" - (VISC seeds) I also grew this one myself, and it's not a powerhouse, but the SMELL, and the TASTE, OMFG!! It's like fruity pebbles and skunk wrapped up together....fabulous stuff! "Quicksilver" "S.A.G.E." - (Sativa Afghani Genetic Equilibrium) Good good stuff. Perfect blend of sativa/indica....Good daytime weed, doesn't give you "couchlock" "Mighty Mite" "Grapefruit" - This is what I'm smoking on currently. "Bubblejack" - Just got a clone of this from a friend that moved back from Tahoe. It's 6" tall, in veg, and it STILL FUCKING REEKS!! Can't wait to see what the end result is like! It sucks to hear that you guys have no hookups. Find someone that you can buy clones from, and if you can't find those, go the seedbank route and DO IT UP YOURSELF! (I realize this isn't feasible for everyone, but growing is pretty fucking easy considering the vast amount of information at your disposal via "teh interwebz" much love, pK
Picked up an 1/8th of Trainwreck this weekend. I must admit I was skeptical when my buddy said he could get some, but once I saw it I bought it instantly. Needless to say that all of my skepticism vanished after the first hit off my grav bong!
pK -- I've never heard of this "gravity." Are your Mpls friends around Dinkytown or Uptown or elsewhere? Funny thing, I've heard some of those other names from WI kids. Bubblejack is all around it seems, especially clones, and is one of the best smelling plants I have ever experienced. Takes a while to flower though. Sour diesels are around Mpls right now...
ah, not 100% sure where my friend's friend (grower) lives. i used to know another of his friends, who also grew. i was good friends with him. so, i used to know the grower directly and he was a GREAT source. but, he was busted a couple years ago and doesn't grow anymore. GRAVITY is awesome. fucking COATED in trichomes... it's a full body high, with a good sativa edge to it as well...sends ya soaring and locked at the same time.....nice blend. BUBBLEJACK smells very similar to the BURMESE. probably due to the Skunk lineage? out of those strains, I miss the BURMESE the most. seriously, the shit was like CANDY...... just talked to dude and there will be blueberry x silver haze in the near future! i'm really exicted to have all these new strains available. variety is the spice of life! any ?'s don't hesitate to PM me pK
Ive seen some pretty good bud around St Cloud lately. It didnt look great, but some bud called Eraser was around that was just awesome, along with some good skunk buds that i was told were called "Hippie Headband" and then some other stuff Grape Krush and some Cali and just plain ole nugs FrIKaZoID
powderkeg--I asked one of my older friends about Gravity and he remembers when his friends grew only that because of its yield and ease of growing. So maybe it's just an age/generation thing--trends seem to stay in certain groups. Fridazoid--I've heard of the Headband coming out here but I hope you aren't paying too much for it. Seems to me to be one more of those "namebrand" buyers club strains. There are good homegrowns going around up there near campus (cherry bomb, blueberry skunk, pure kush, thunderfuck). Never heard of the Eraser or the Grape Krush, do you know if they are local?
Some other stuff ive seen up there called "White American" and i did see some thunderfuck the first trip but havent seen it since then... the grape i think comes into town in bursts along with the eraser now. The eraser smells like fruity pebbles, like dank and incredibly good, but im sure they just gave it their own name or some shit. I havent bought the Headband personally but my friend did, he paid a lot, $70 for the dub.
yeah its definetaly a steep price lmao. again why i havent bought any... yet until the price is down. Its the finest bud that i can find around here though which is why my friend keeps buying it. but theres some other stuff that isnt bad some awesome stuff for 160 a half o
My buddy from around St. Cloud State tells his customers "I have 60's and 70's" even when he only has one kind because he knows that everyone thinks the 70's will be better and will want them. That's the reality of buying from a random dealer on a college campus. What you need to do is just talk to them, rationalize with them, respond to their interest, but not over-ly so, and you will soon realize that they most likely know where it's coming from (or grew it themselves) and sell friend bags for 50 (or 40). And yes, the people who sell 70/eighths are crooks, but the people who BUY 70/eighths are morons! If no one bought them, they couldn't sell them! As I suspected, stay away from Headband, it is just a namebrand. I've smelled the fruity pepple bud recently, wasn't called eraser though...
Alright i guess my friend went up and bought a lil more of the Eraser and he gave me a few small buds of it, which i have snap a few pics of, the dark bud is a mystery it looks a little differnt gonna save it till morning, smoke it then see if its danker with any luck. but whatever this stuff is some bomb-ass bud. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a129/Frikazoid/Frikazoid089.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a129/Frikazoid/Frikazoid088.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a129/Frikazoid/Frikazoid087.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a129/Frikazoid/Frikazoid086-1.jpg Update: After smoking them 3 buds or whatever i stand up after some intense video gaming and im so high that im a lil dizzy. quick question, No Sig/AV's if not a member?
Those look like some good nuggest, but from the pictures, that darker one looks like a different strain than the other two.
you poor souls having trouble finding some good chocho? hit up the u of mn/dinkytown, my first day down here i got asked by 3 different folks if i needed any, just by walking around campus and d-town. hindu kush, blueberry, purple power, daddys girl, trainwreck, fruity pebbles, golden gopher, skunk #1, kali mist, concrete kush.. just to name a few i cant remember them all you know after about the 20th new strain you lose track, idk what your deals are but if your in the u of mn campus area keep your eyes peeled im sure you know what to look for..
