To think that MSNBC was once known as a news channel.

Here are two examples of their quality 'news'. Guess they needed something to compete with CNN's show about Natalie Holloway who disappeared nearly three years ago.

    Documentary/Other/Reality

A look at three biological women as they prepare for and undergo sex reassignment surgery to become men.

It's always been the media's role to indoctrinate the public.

I feel that transgenderism is a fairly intresting topic to show while the newscasters are tucked into bed.

How about a transgender Presidential race. Hillary can change to a guy and McCain can change into a woman.

Yeah. And on the flip side, the White House has Tony Snow, formerly of Fox.

Good point. Some refer to her as Billary.

MSNBC has been running prison shows like a broken record for the past year. I'm surprised they haven't done shows about transgender inmates.

i don't understand why people keep not getting it: the media is owned by, and doesn't just serve, but is a very arm of, the same corporatocracy, that has usurped the political proccess. it makes no kind of sense, to expect useful information, the is in any way inconvienient to it, to come from that direction.

even when media ownership WAS more diverse and less compromised, it was still more concerned with selling advertising space then serving the information needs of an open, free, and fair world.

the exception, the THEN exception, were such non-comercial outlets as then existed, (and the non-government sponsered ones, a few here and there, still do). not that anyone doesn't have their own agendas and axes to grind, but not all outside sources black out what the more redily available and popular media invariably and now universally does.

two headded cows as they are called, have allways been a space filler for the real news someone felt it wasn't in there best intrest to tell us.

there is another thing too of course, as long as people can keep being convinced what they want is to be 'infotained', that is what you can continue to expect.

the fact that we're even discussing this suggests that there are still people gullable enough to turn the propiganda box on in the first place.

the old russian saying applies to today's us: no truth in "the truth" (their news agency was called 'pravda' which ment truth, todays a.p. has largely devolved to that level), no news (isvestia, which "u.s.a. today" is vertually a carbon clone of conceptually) in the news.

Rather than the more "conspiracy" orientated ideas on why any commercial tv stations/networks puts on crappy shows, it is simple capitalism, the higher the ratings (the more people watching), the more they charge for commercials= the more money they make. If enough people didn't watch it, they would put something else on. These channels are not a run as a service to humanity, they are a business and they are operated as such. I think they would run, 24 hours a day, toilet and fart jokes or any other type of the lowest common denominator stuff, if they thought it would increase ratings.

Transgendered people is a misunderstood issue that could benefit by more exposure and public education. What is the problem with these shows? Do you actually know any transgendered people?

capitolism IS the "conspiracy", or rather fanatical monetarist chauvanism.
it's a doomsday machine nobody's really in control of.
there's nothing harmless about it either.

i'm not sure i make sense out of what it was the op was complaining about, i may have missunderstood its intent entirely. yes i think there are a lot of things people need to be more awaire of, about everyone else being 'human' too.

that there's no "us and THEM", only self and EVERYone.

but i also think i aggree that representing thought pieces, of whatever perspective, as being "news" is a wee bit of a bate and switch deception.

i don't know any good reason a "news network" souldn't air them. just not AS NEWS. (and not to fill the space of the news they ought to be telling us, because a democratic proccess NEEDS TO KNOW, but arn't).

Don't forget that February is 'sweeps weeks' in the U.S. (ratings month). All the networks suddenly 'discover' topics such as transvestites, UFOs, Bigfoot, prostitution, and inmates that they think the general public will see as titillating.
