So I'm going to Singapore this summer and I was thinking I might pick up a laptop while I'm there. It's supposed to be such a cheap place for'em. Second option is getting a refurbished laptop off of eBay in case people start telling me electronics in Singapore aren't as cheap as I hope/expect.

Anyway, I know my way around desktops and various manufacturers of hardware pretty well, and I have my preferences. But I have no idea what brand of laptop to choose. I don't really have any experience with them, all I know is I'd like one that I can watch video files, play music files, run word and play some games on. (No heavy graphics stuff required)

    So, any recommendations?

Go to Tiger Direct and get a refurbished one. You'll find $2000 laptops for $500. I recently bought a Gateway laptop off of them and it's great.
