what are the best exercises to do to tone up your body and get better definition? Im quite happy with the size i am now but i want to be tighter and lose the odd bit of flab here and there. I do a lot of walking, everyday, walking my dogs for an hour, but i dont seem to be losing anymore weight, do you think my body has just got used to it and platued (or however you spell it)? i also do a bit of weight lifting but i need to be more creative i think.
    Thanks for any advice.

you haven't done anything to reach a plateau.

compound lifts - they are your friend. don't be afraid to lift heavy weights. you aren't going to get big. squats, lunges, push ups, rows, chin up/pull ups, etc are all great.

what do you do for weight lifting?

what is your food intake like? calories are important, but whats more important is the type of calories you eat. 200 calories of some processsed food is not the same as 200 calories of fruit/veggie/or lean meat.

i'd say just do basic aerobic-ish exercises. think of it as the next step beyond power-walking.
    squats
leg lifts (on sides on floor)
    leg lifts from hands/feet position
dual leg lift/back on floor (works lower abdomen/back)
tons of jumping jacks (i do a few hundred before/after i work out to warm up) - they work the backside, hamstrings, lower leg (mainly outside, which is a bit harder to work, anyway), sides, and back of arms.

depends where you're at now but if they don't do much for you even if you do them fast i'd say just keep doing more 'cause they're a mighty convenient alternative to other stuff that gets your heart going.

if you're kinda puff all over like i used to be then trying to get definition by lifting weights is a huge waste of time because even with the smallest amount of excess body fat your muscles will take forever to show through. that's why i suggest just to do all-encompasing type exercises - they take care of your body fat in general, after which point you can shape up with weights and actually be able to see a difference.
