I figure this is a question a lot of people wonder, so it's worth posting a new topic for it: What is truly better, 10x Standardized extract, or 20x regular extract? Standardized means only the Salvinorin A is re-applied to the leaves after extraction, but should 20x regular extracts be more powerful than 10x Standardized anyway? I figure 20x is better. I am ordering from Herbal Fire tonight, fyi.
I believe I have found a really good answer already: This is smart, scientific reasoning that I've seen supported in an article before. Everyone agree?
there is no evidence that standardized is stronger than non-standardized. there are 2 advantages to standardized. 1st your dose is more consistant, you are able to more accurately measure your dose. and 2nd, non-standardized may have more gunk in it because of the cruder technique. neither of these advantages says anything about potency.
Standardized is a definate and measured amount that is deposited into a given amount of regualr leaf(gram). It is a cleaner smoke because all the waxs', plant element, and dirt have been removed by 99%. This means almost pure salvinorin is placed back on leaf. Non is a crude final with lots of plant material in your product, you never know if your truly getting a 10x 20x etc.,so you take a chance. But you also take a chance on residual chemicals in your extract like acetone or naphtha if you don't buy from a reputable retailer. Hope this gets you on the right track. Ki
