    Hello all -

I hope I don`t bore anyone with this, but since its the `Backpackers Forum`, I thought Id post something Ive wanted to do for a while & see if anyone has done it themselves or has the same dream, hehe!

Wellll...for years now, I have wanted to take a roadtrip, and do some walking across Arizona, and the Grand Canyon areas. The desert fascinates me, (different deserts), but especially Arizona. My dream vehicle is a vintage VW Bus or Van & Id love to go across in one of those and park it in the desert for a day & night, camp out & just enjoy all it has to offer. The problem is, I am flat-broke & dont know how to achieve this unless I come into some serious $$ :-S[IMG]. I may be going to Trade School soon, so that might help, but I dont know...I have thought about Backpacking there too, but then there`s getting-there - a friend of mine wanted to come with, but neither of us have the $$ right now & she has this thing about staying in a nice hotel when Id be more than happy to sleep in the desert :p.

Has anyone on here who isnt from the US backpacked to & across Arizona? Is it possible on not much $$? What would be the best way? I hope someone can help me with some advice...thanks & peace.

    ~Rainy`.

There is the Arizona Trail! It's around 800 miles, and would take 6-7 weeks. Here's some links.

If you are really interested, this is a trail I've also been giving some thought to hiking this fall. I have long-distance hiking experience, having hiked the Colorado Trail, The Pacific Crest Trail and The Appalachian Trail.

As far as money goes, you'd want to have all your gear before hand, and maybe $2000 for a comfortable trip. You could probably get by with much less of course, as there are certainly frugal hiking techniques, the first being not to ever go into town to much [IMG]

Is there Greyhound in Canada to get to Arizona?
